Do you believe this diagnosis...
Well I haven't posted on here in a while but Im about to go to the dealer to pick up my car after a 4 day stay. My car was having a couple problems. On the speedo the distronic light between the 2 caution triangles, you know the one that turns on white when you set the distronic was blinking red and making a beeping noise just every now and then it was random. Secondly it constantly kept saying trunk lid not closed when it clearly was closed. Thirdly I walked outside last week and my car wouldnt unlock on the last day I had it, so I manually unlocked it and turned it on w/ the key bc the keyless wouldnt work and the electric consumers were offline. After a 4 day wait, my service advisor calls me today and tells me i need to start unplugging my ipod from the cigarette adaptor because its draining my battery....i was like thats it....4 days and thats the solution. I have an S550 and drove it for an entire year and never unplugged the ipod from the cig lighter and this never happened. Do you guys believe this as the true problem? Ill see if anything goes wrong when I pick it up

I don't believe it ... but it sure is easy.
To be fair though, the telephone in my CL would drain the battery over one week of sitting if I left it plugged in. Unplugged it and the problem went away.
Cost MB a service call and battery replacement.

As you were describing your problems, I was thinking "dead battery".
I know that the SL is finicky when it comes to batteries, but I am not sure of the difference with the S class. All you can do is unplug the Ipod and see if it helps. If that's not it there has to be another source of the battery drain....or your battery needs replacing.

I just got the car back, as for the batteries I changed both of them about two months ago, so that shouldn't be the issue. The distronic symbol is still lighting up red and my service advisor said the car is not throwing off any codes. Im going to post another thread does anyone have experience with this. Its getting annoying, it only blinks red when i get close to another car. Im talking about the symbol above the speedo between the 2 caution triangles. Its supposed to be white when you turn on the distronic, but mine is beeping and turning red. Im supposed to go tom morning at 8 am and drive it with the shop foreman bc he is a friend of a friend of mine, but when i told him on the phone he said he hadn't seen that before.

I had a long wait during the winter when my options such as HEAT would not work. After 10 minutes or so, all worked fine. I took it to my dealer, they said it was because the car would sit for the weekend or maybe 4 days. I insisted on a battery replacement, they complied, all was fine and has been since. I agree with the electronic brakes on the SL, unlike the S Class, an even slightly weak battery will cause lots of little issues.
