I'm 47 years old. I've had approximately 60 cars. That works out to one car for every six months that I've been driving. Maybe I need to visit cars anonymous for some serious rehab? I own two separate, very successful companies (Electronics Company that manufactures and sells portable speaker systems for iPods, etc, and a Money Management Company with a long-term average annual return of 20.65%, before fees). Despite all the cars, I have had little time to actually enjoy them!

Age 42. My cars are picture below. I wanted a BMW 550i and the misses wanted a Lexus SC430 AND fewer cars in our personal fleet, so we compromised and got a SL550. Euro Delivery was the deal maker. Since we were hanging around the MB dealer during the ordering process, the GL caught our eyes, so bye-bye to my modified Hemi Ram 4x4 too. We're probably keeping the Audi as a commuter through the winter. After that, who knows.

I am 27, and drive an S600. Previously drove a 2002 M5, and before that, the nicest car I had was a 96 Taurus. I recently sold out my partnership on real estate development (last week), and am going into private equity investment.
I am looking at acquiring a 2007+ SL 600 in the next three months, when I dispose the sedan. I am living in the fast lane of bachelorhood, and no signs of slowing down in the near future, so no need for the rear seat or doors, or roof for that matter. Simultaneously, I sold my house at the burbs and bought a loft in the small but vivid local downtown.

Im 19, Europe, Estonia, SL 55 AMG. Since 17 I was working hard in my family buisness which is shipping. Since that time we became one of the leedings companies in europe. In 19 years I decided that I need for summer (which was 5 months ago) a sports car. I went to our local diler and ordered red/red SL 55 AMG already face lifted with full options. 3 months after I recieved it!!! Im driving it already for 2 months, its a great car, great quality and great sound!!!! 3 magic letter AMG!!!

I am 35. I am an Emergency Medicine physician, ER Director and Regional Director for a large ER staffing firm. Grew up with nothing, paid my own way through medical school through hard work. My idea of a car when i was young was chevy or die. Could not stand the overprivelaged kids driving the vettes and MB's that were given to them by their parents and not knowing what a hard days work was. My 1st MB was used clk320. Loved it. I promised myself after I graduated Medical school I would by a Porsche because it was the elite German car. Bought my 996. Loves the looks, but missed the MB drive. Got a 05sl500 at 32 and have not went back. Busted my butt and went to a sl600, sl55 and a s55. Love the luxurious ride and love to kick the gear heads asses. I have friends with new Z06', m5's, Shelby's and love to blow their doors off. Nothing looks better to me than a r230. So much modding you can do to drivetrain, interior and exterior. Will never go back to a US car. Not even if given to me. Now my son will be one of those kids who have that mercedes at 16 and understand my feelings in HS were just envy.

Out Of Control!!
Even without giving my age I know that I am the senior delegate to this forum. I have owned more cars than any sensible person should have owned ranging from pure daily drivers, muscle cars and a number of Trailer Queens. I will have to say that the SL55 has been the most enjoyable of the lot. My only complaint is the quick wear of the rear tires: and the lack of hybrid type fuel economy. Serously no complaints at all.

Looks like you're on my path. In '06 had a 330xi for about 6 months before trading it for a '07 530xi, looking to trade for a M5 now -- I bet you'll probably do the same. The 3's are very uncomfortable.
I'm waiting to find an available SL 65 to trade in the 55 too, anyone out there looking to sell theres?

Sounds about right!
I've must have seen 100 SL55/65's driving around in Orange County in the last couple of years... and probably can count on a single hand the amount of people who I would guess to be under 35 driving them... Yet on this board 20 something's seem to own 9 out of 10 of them.
Just saying...

I'm 36 and drive a 2006 SL55 (black on black).
I am a commodities trader
I just love the lines of the SL. I think it is the most elegant of the high-end cars. No offense to others intended, but I didn't want the "mid-life crisis" connotations of the Porsche. The Ferrari is a bit unpractical and too ostentatious. The SL is classy and understated (well, sort of). I was originally going to get a new 2007 SL550, but the 1st year depreciation was just too much to stomach. So for a little less money, I got the 2006 SL55, and I am very happy with it. I just wish MB would put more standard features in it, as found in other luxury brands, and please.....upgrade that primitive navigation system (or just copy the one from Lexus).

I'm 25 and got my SL55 at 23. Simply put...I decided to purchase an SL55 because I love the car when it works.
I was shopping around and decided I wanted to go for a "bachelor" car since I'm fairly young. I came to the decision that I liked the SL55 and Bentley Continental GT the most. I chose to go with the SL55 since it's a hard top convertible 2-seater (the Bentley doesn't necessarily spell "bachelor"...since the rear seats could imply that I have a family...plus Bentley's are considered to be cars for individuals in older generations), it's sporty yet comfortable, being 6'3" and having broad shoulders I am able to fit in it (very few convertibles I can properly fit in), used to catch attention...it's simply a great all around car.

This thread is awesome, and I suspect about 25% honest.
Me, 38, and have bought and sold 4 SL's in a year for the pure enjoyment of it.
