A C5 Z06 vs. the SL55 AMG.

Yes. I love street races and rolls against cars. Particularly, I'm thinking about this one...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCdrcM8PasA

It shows the SL55 pulling ahead right away in the beginning from a standstill or roll and then at later speeds, probably over 100 mph, the C5 Z06 pulls away.

Before you all say something, it's a C5 Z06, the one with 400 hp and same torque.

Now, is the "old" Z06 faster than the SL in that big advantage in terms of weight?
What would the problem be? Terrible driver driving an automatic on the SL? Faulty I/C Pump? I hear the I/C Pump can cause lots of power problems at top end speed....

I know the SL AMG isn't the fastest on the planet but I always thought it was would slightly faster than the old C5 Z06. The M5/M6 can pull on the C5 Z06, why not 55 AMGs? M5 and M6 are way heavier but the AMGs have waaay more torque.

And no, that's not me. In fact, I've never raced anybody

I am a chief driving instructor for the FCA, and one of the last times a faced a Z06 was during an instructor only session, and he never pulled on me and I never made any ground on him, and this was a C6 Z06. We always had the same gap...lap after lap........until my brakes went away! But now that I have a much better Brembo system......and I am going after him!

You live in my old stomping grounds. There was nothing like doing 9W on a Sunday morning, and heading up into NY.

beater with a heater
your relying on 2 different drivers driving, and 2 different cars then what you want to get, maybe one was abused, the driver had a bad day... it is all irrelevant unless you are driving your vehicle...

The Z06 is a bad **** ride, though it has it's drawbacks also... cheaper than an SL, for what you pay for an SL you can have www.mallettcars.com hot rod one up for you with a suspension package, head and cam package, even a Vortec super charger... which will definately put it in the 600 HP category

The Sl is a convertible and feels more like a real car, the Z06 isn't, wel the last time I looked it was a hard top only...

I would like to get a Z06... for my wife

Heh.

9W...

*sigh* Nothing happening there except our cops watching for speeders.

But wait a minute! You were bumper to bumper with a "C6" Z06?!

How? I don't think your SL55 is stock!

9W used to be unpatrolled, I guess the Stateies, and the Alpine cops need to raise revenue!

The only mods my SL55 has is our software, and K&N filters.....and its delimited!
