After about 350 mi. of cruising, I began exploring the potential of my 55 on a favorite stretch of road. In the sport mode the car has remarkable composure for the weight. I got some air going over a rise that I enjoy taking in my 911. I was surprised to hear the quick ratcheting noise of the bar being deployed. The 911's automatic roll bar goes up more like an air bag and doesn't go off just getting four wheels off the ground. It's reassuring to know the system works but in the future I think I'll put the bar up ahead of time when planning on some sporty driving.

jgsl55 Where is the switch or button located to put up the roll bar manually, U must be in heaven driving around in that car. In New Jersey u can still keep the top down and the heater on and enjoy fall driving at its best. Where do u live and what is the weather like there? Give us more comentary please!

Mookie, the buttons to raise and lower the roll-over bar are under the roof switch flap. To open the roof, you first flip the flap up which exposes the two buttons for manually deploying the roll-over bar. Pulling the flap up further against the spring resistance opens the roof. To close the roof, you flip the flap down and press down against spring resistance.
It's good to know the roll over bar deploys when the car's airborne. The 129 roll over bar deploys prematurely under heavy braking, maybe the R230 is more intelligent.
