The following info is a public service announcement made in the interest of future searchers (in case anybody actually searches).
I just bought a 7 yr / 100k mile exclusionary warranty on my '03 CL55 for $2,600 with a $50 deductible. Of course you only get the balance of the 7yr 100 from your in-service date.

I got a price of $4,100 from autowarrantybroker.com for similar coverage but the cost difference is just too great. I had a policy from AWB on my 911TT and it paid off very nicely but they stopped writing on the 55's in January when the policy was $2,300 and just started writing it again at $4,100.

that is untrue, I purchased an '04 SL55 and was the 2nd owner, I just bought an extended warranty 3 months ago through an independent company. Just ask your service advisor, he should give you 2 or 3 options again that depends if you have a good relationship with him. If not just ask for the service manager they're always willing to help

a few days ago. It is a 5 year policy up to 100k miles
and was just about $3k. My service advisor at MB told
me to get a Mercury Platinum since they are the easiest
to work with and approve most claims.

This IS correct. You cannot get a Mercedes warranty (from the mercedes storefront) but you can get a non-mercedes warranty through those links posted here. There are some differences as far as to what each covers. None of the after-market are ones are "bumper-to-bumper" warranties.
