Whats Hotter 04SL55 or Baby Blue Gemballa GT650 TT

I am having this very though debate

What are your thoughts, I have the porsche now, and a 07TL as a daily, should I sell both and get a 04 SL55 pewter fully loaded w/cls wheels 24K miles and daily drive it instead of two cars.

Which is hotter to you guys? I know this is a Sl55 forum but honest answers are appreciated, I had a E55K2 W211 before the gemballa, so I know the Sl55 is fast but no where near as fast as my 996TT

Let me know

Thanks

Whats up Jay,I figured you'd be on here too... I want to stick with an AMG, so its 55 or 65, not too interested in the 600's especially since costs after warranty period are outrageous on those V12's or so I hear...

also you can get an extended warranty for 3k 7/100k...that will save the issue of having to pay for repairs on the v12. i got mine through chrysler service contracts....still owned 20% by daimler....

I'd go with the SL55... it still commands more attention then a Porsche in my book.

Everyone see's Porsches everywhere, everyone see's SL500 and SL550's... but when they see the tinted tail lights everyone knows something is different about that particular SL.

Harder to tell on a Porsche which is which.

What price are you seeing on that '04? I would try and get an '05 honestly... and you should be able too for the same price.

the costs after warranty on either car will be about the same. Personally it would take the 65 to get me out of your Gemballa. If u can swing the 65 id say do it but if not the 55 will be a fun car, a 55 with exhaust and the top down sounds sick!!

I would usually say SL except for the fact that the 3rd facelift is coming soon...so my answer is 996 TT. (I would take off the crests if it were mine)

996TT gets my vote but it depends on what you're looking for. SL is more of a GT car, Porsche is more of a sports car.

My dad had both an SL55 and a 997TT and he prefered the SL55 just because the suspension was so much more compliant and the car wasn't as low so it allowed for daily drivability, whereas the Porsche was kind of a weekend car only. But I'd still choose the Porsche for sure.

i need better pictures of the 996. baby blue probably looks very nice and i have never seen one in that color. that alone would keep me in the p-car now you add in the fact that its a gemballa(sp?) P-car for sure.

Porsche, hands down, only if it is a true Gemballa though.

car has Gemballa GT650 kit on it, a lot of work is being done on it as we speak

GT3 carbon seats, full Gemballa carbon interior

Its fully modded, other than the gemballa wing and bumper

I decided to keep it especially since the 09 Sl is around the corner

I see the two cars as completely different beasts personally. I have driven both the SL55 and the 996TT (no gemballa though). I personally like the "cruisability" of the SL, but I'm sure the Gemballa package makes the P-Car a monster. It all comes down to if you want the hassle of only having a performance oriented vehicle (996) or one that you can relax while driving (SL55). If it's a second car maybe go for the Porsche... if you can live with owning a "baby blue" car. Maybe if you were a big Tarheels fan or something...
