Depreciation when the 09 models come out

I am looking to purchase a 03/04 sl55 in the 60k range. When the new 09 models come out how bad of a hit will it take?

From my basic research I dont think it will be much considering the early 01 sl's are still trading in the 30's.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Based on what they now say,...

I think the 09 is still going to be an R230. With the Germans now back in control, they are saying that product life cycles are going to be longer. Not as long as in the old days, but longer than the Chrysler days. Friends in the know that have good ties to the factory tell me that the current roadster won't be replaced until a 2011 model. And BTW, yes, the cars take an awful hit until they hit the 50s or low 60's. It's nor so bad from there, but if you want a new, or nearly new one, better hang on.

You name it i've had it or got it...
that car has taken the biggest part of the hit...you will be fine if you buy it now. the price increase for the new one should help with the depreciation on the car as well. buy it and enjoy it....if you are worried about losing money then you shouldn't buy a car...especially an expensive car because you will lose 9 out of 10 times...unless you absolutely steal the car.

Thanks for the replies..

Loosing some money is not an issue, loosing alot of money is..
I tend to buy my vehicles at the base of the major depreciation hit..

That being said, I am now in the market for a BLK/BLK 04 SL55, low miles in the SoCal area...

Owning a SL55 is just a fact of depreciation. My 05 was $86K before taxes 16 months ago. I think I would be lucky to get $70K for it now. So by my yardstick thats about $ 1000.00 a month. But it is worth it. It always cheers me up for the weekend. Just face it unless you buy a 03 or an 04 with mucho miles the depreciation is still substantial.

Soo... low 60's to 50's for a 03 or 04 is a good place to be. Thinking about picking one up soon.
