So the SL65 depreciation is not so bad after all?

Noticed 2006 examples are trading at ~$114k (60% value) and 2005 around $100k (52%). So, after first 2 years after you've survived the initial hit of 40% (yes, that is bad) but after that the value doesn't seem to decrease so badly.
Obviously because the current SL model has not been changed. The old CL65 is a different story..

right, welcome to owning a flagship mbz.

if you let the first owner take the initial hit, you can but it cheap, drive the hell out of it, and not loose to much money on the resale.

Servicing costs?

Exaclty what I am thinking to do..
Really not sure though, e.g. running costs (especially servicing) can I guess be a lot more than an SL55.
Thing is, in Europe we had this Performance Pack thing for several years now, which gives a regular SL55 exactly the same macho looks as the SL65.

Have you SEEN the new body style? Nothing to "write home about" in my book. I sure hope the SL65's drop even further because I have not yet gotten mine!

well, if you drive a benz be prepaired to pay like 25% of the cost in repairs. my family, apart from my moms leased cars, always buy used cars. even if it has 2,000 miles on it, its still 15-20% off sticker. buying new is a waste of money. 60% of a multi "real" millionaires (like 1,000,001^ in the bank, not liquid) drive cars that are 3-4 yeals old, and sell them 2-3 years after that, having about 1.5-2.5K in losses (not bad if you think about it)

Yeah, not soo bad.. only a $80,000 LOSS for one year of ownership of a SL65!

CL65's are right on pace with an average loss of $90,000 for one year of ownership.

Ill say it again... CRAPPY CARS, CRAPPY dealers = WORTHLESS cars.

Such a shame, used to be if you bought a Benz you knew when you went to sell it or trade you wouldnt have to go to the proctologist for **** reconstruction.

I come from the Ferrari world, where depreciation is very minimal. I was shocked when i have seen the hit that my SL55 has taken. Especially, when I was told that the SL55 was a limited edition car, that would insure residuals. Fortunately I hold on to my cars for a long time, so you really don't lose money unless you sell it.

Apparently 'limited production' has a different meaning at MB/AMG. At Ferrari it means keeping production lower than demand. At MB/AMG it means limiting to as many as they can pump out!

And could you please post similar table for SL65s? Thanx a lot!

Guys aren't some of these price decreases due to winter being here. These prices will go up in the spring. Its a convertable!!!! sports car. Buy it in the winter late fall sell them in the spring. At least that is what I see happening in the midwest.

No, they are NOT available to the public ....but it DOES show you what the dealers are paying and therefore it also gives you a good idea of what the PUBLIC "may" be able to buy one for by simply taking these auction prices and adding a markup. Each broker and/or dealer is different so the markups could be anywhere from $500 to $5,000 per car. Some of the "below average" vehicles can take a LOT of work for get them into "sellable" condition.

If you can get a broker to buy a car for you in an auction, in what state are these cars being sold? What does average condition mean? (not thinking of below average..
