Highest Mileage SL55?
I was filling up tonight at a gas station near my house and a guy pulled in behind me in a black SL55 just like mine so we just started chatting and he bet me his had been used more than mine and since mine was at 42K miles i thought it was well used for a so-called toy car. He then took me to his car 83K miles on an '03. I was shocked you never see modern ferrari's with mileage like that.

IIRC, few yrs ago, here was a 2yo 360 Spider on ebay w/70K mis, used as a commuter car in LA region....
In my expce, new F's are about as reliable/daily-useable as new AMGs (if one ignores F's dubious safety).....![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
IMO, SL55 is an iconic car
....some 5yrs ago, SL55 made Ferrari realize that many of their best repeat customers drove both then-new 360 and SL55....and enjoyed each equally, but in different ways....and prob inspired much of the daily-useability engineered into today's 599....
Today, seems like many CL63 guys also have 599s....brilliantly complementary cars (at least until Scud arrives...and SL63 Blk Series arrives)....![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
And lots of guys have short (<10mi each way) commutes to office and often travel extensively by plane, so hard to accumulate much more than 10-15K mis on any car before wanting to trade-in for some new, latest/greatest AMG.....

High Mileage Ferraris
are also uncommon because most dudes that buy these cars are likely to treat them like the "works of art" that they are. Once a Ferrari goes over 20,000 miles it's almost likes it turns from a Ferrari into just another used car. From what I hear, if you have the money for the maintenance, the newer generation Ferraris (everything 360 Modena and after) are much more reliable.

My ageing F355 has done just 13000 miles and is not in good shape, need to use it more. It's currently blowing the remains of its catalysts out through the tail pipes and you can imagine it's not small change to fix.
There was a rumour of one F355 reaching 95000 miles and Ferrari were so surprised they bought the car back to find out how it had done it.

Murcielago, Hummer, Road King Classic
Not the case for Lambos.
I have heard of a Murci having over 60,000 miles and a diablo withover 80,000 miles. I have already put 6k miles on my lambo within 4 months and plan to average about 10k miles a year. You can do more damage to a car by letting it set than driving it around, exotics need to be driven on a regular basis.
Ferraris are known for their problems, Lambos are solid as hell.. I tend to enjoy my cars and use/abuse them, dont believe they are investments rather toys to be fully utilized.
Plan to do the same with my SL55 if I ever *&*#@## find one at my price!

..and here I was feeling bad about my '05 having 17,000 miles on it.
My car sits for 3-4 months while I'm deployed. I'm home for only 1 month b/w deployments, if that, so I make sure I drive it hard and try to play catch up.
I'm not worried about it dry-rotting away though.
Perhaps one of you guys could keep it on the road for me...

Thanks S-Clusiv!
I appreciate you wanting to stretch its legs everyday.
Hey I'm currently OCNUS as we speak. Just go to my place and pick it up.
Thanks bro, you're the Best.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
PS I put new rubbers on it just for you..

For you, of course!
You know, so CHP could clear the 14 Fwy just for you.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Yeah, that place is always windy..
I'll take you for a ride next time I'm home.
She needs her rest from the last time I drove her.

Now Free I like and volunteering is the Honorable thing to do. I'm driving to Louisiana in May. Perhaps when I drive through Texas we can exchange cars. That is if you're willing to drive an SL55 for a week?
