And will pass on SL63 if it's similarly underwhelming....

I have been waiting for a year anticipating this AMG upgrade. I will pass on this SL63, too, if it doesn't strike me as beautiful when it arrives. Last week I tried to get a '08 SL55 in black on stone w/pano roof, but there are none left in that color combination across the country. There are 40 black on black left at dealerships across the country, but I am a woman and I love the stone color interior. So, with this SL63, I can upgrade to a faster model and get the color combination I want. If I don't like the '09, there will still be '08 SL55s black on black in stock and I can either go that route, or keep the beautiful car I have. Originally Posted by WSH

I think I will like the '09, though. I am just not happy with the new airscarf addition and I hope I can work around it somehow. I am really ready to upgrade and pass along the older model I currently own, along with its wear and tear (darn those cement parking blocks--I only had to do that once to learn these sports cars don't clear them!) for a newer, faster model.
Then in two to three years I will flip it again for the all new model. Hopefully, the 2011-2012 model won't give us the anguish this one is giving us. I don't want anymore surprises like the one that hit us this past week, especially in something that I am so passionate about.

I also saw a post last night on another forum of someone who took photos of one on the 405 freeway last week in Orange County, CA. I don't know if it was an AMG (I can't remember), but it still had some masking on it. I will try to find that link. He must have been shooting photos with his camera phone as he was driving.
