2003 SL55 Maintenance Costs
Hi All,
I currently have a 2002 911 and am thinking of either switching to a 2003 SL55 or 2003 911 Twin Turbo (yes, different types of car I know).
What is routine maintenance like on the SL55s? Are there any particular weak points I should watch out for - transmission, supercharger, any model years to stay away from??? I plan to drive 10-15K miles per year. Is it worth paying a premium for a low mileage car or ok to get something with 40-50K miles.
Thanks in advance for the replies!

I purchased an 03 55 last year . If I was to buy one today it would be an 05 or up simply beause the navi system is better ,its dvd based. also by 05 im sure many of the kinks were worked out . No matter what year you choose make sure you have an after market warrenty. If you have the option of CPO or not.. choose CPO! the extra dollars are worth it.

Just curious, what's the most major repair you've encountered?
Another concern ... if you are planning to keep the car for 5+ years, it will most likely be out of CPO or any sort of aftermarket warranty you get. Is one running a huge risk at this point?
There are many 911s out that are 10+ years running quite well albeit with a slightly higher than average maintenance costs.

I own both, and so far the 996TT wins in reliability and maintenance costs. Both have extended warranties, but I still couldn't resist the temptation to modify all my cars. Of course, even brand new cars will have issues unless you buy Japanese.

You sell them when you are out of warranty. the ABC system costs about $3600 front and rear to fix. Its the small things that will cost you with the diagnostic time since dealers can find and fix problems very fast.
