I just checked mine. They look fine. I am at 47K Miles too on my 2005.

Seems kind of odd all 4 would go at once.

Yes, it does seem odd for all 4 to tear at once. One looks like something might have chewed on it, and the other 3 look like dry rot cracks. My car does sit for 3-4 months at a time and I only put 3K-5K miles on it a year...So maybe that's the problem. I guess my car is just dry rotting away!!! I'll put some type of protectant on them this time and see if that helps.

may I ask what battery are we talking about here?

My 2002 CL55 did the exact same thing, turned out to be the valve blocks were leaking and needed to be replaced. It took me almost 6 months to figure out what the problem was with my car, but in any case not all 4 valve blocks need to be bad for ur car to start leaning also U need to get it re calibrated to it's proper height configuration. I remmember very well having to raise my car just to be able to level out evenly so that I could drive the damn thing. Good Luck to U, I hope this post was helpful for U.

2003 SL 55 AMG-suspension issue

I own a '03 SL55 and recently started to experience issues with the suspension system. While driving, at any speed, or just sitting at a red light, the car will do the "rodeo test" or will raise the suspension up and down from either the right of left side. The dealer says the suspension fluid needs to be flushed and the filter replaced... Well, they did it and the car's still doing the same. So, the dealer said they would flush it again and replace the valve and the filter... Has anyone experienced this issue? What did you do?

I traded for a new 08 SL550 with a new car warranty . I will never own a Mercedes without a full coverage warranty and a great dealership close by.

...Thanks for the tip! I love my SL55 AMG and am not ready to trade it in. But, I understand what you mean about not getting a MB w/o full coverage and a reliable dealership.

i have a 2003 SL 55 AMG and never had this issue ......

the ppl that usally have this issue are the ppl that let these cars SIT . For instance when u store the car for the winter ..... u have to ATLEAST TURN THE CAR ON 3 TIMES A WEEK AND IF POSSIBLE DRIVE IT UP AND DOWN THE STREET IF THERES NO SNOW ON THE ROAD.

the minute u neglect this car ..... thats when problems start. she needs to be driven in order to get energy . if u dont feed urself ur joints etc... wont work properly either.

OK.
You have owned your SL for how many weeks now ?

In Reality.
Which does not have any snow on the road in July.

You should be able to let your ABC equipped Benz sit for many weeks without
issue. Saddly the one weakness with the ABC system is leakage and filtering.
If your car is leaning after sitting for a few days. The system is leaking and needs attention. Also in this thread is mention of the recall for the finer mesh screen in the filter. Make sure your pre 2005 Car has this recall performed
and the system flushed. ABC issues should only be addressed by a MBZ Dealer.

I let my CL500 and my SL55 sit for 2-3 weeks without ABC issues of any type.

That rodeo feeling you are getting is the system trying to balance and align.
Something is wrong with one of the sensors or a strut. Get the dealer to fix it.
Its not safe to be driving these cars with faulty ABC systems.

...I just got a call from the dealer indicating that the right-rear shock needs to be replaced. Apparently, the valve is not working, and the RR shock valve can not be replaced.... Why the other shocks' valve can be replaced separately and not the one in the RR shock? Hmm?

You need to call your dealer back and let him know that you know that shocks must be replaced in pairs. They did this on my 2003 without me saying anything. Even though only one rear shock was bad they had to replace both. It was covered under warranty.

...OK! I finally got the problem solved on my 2003 SL55 AMG. After the dealer replaced the rear-right shock ($1,650 + labor), the height sensors (4x$100 + labor), and the fluid lines, they found out that the broken part was the front block valve that regulates all hydraulic lines ($1,600 + labor). So, three weeks and $5,400 later my car is fixed!

If all you have to do to cure it is raise then lower the suspension, and your not losing fluid then I would not worry. I think all cars with ABC settle after a few days, it's just yours gets stuck a bit one side. I wish this was my problem,
I am having new pipes fitted at the cost of over $2000, but then I was losing fluid.

[/ QUOTE]

SL55 ABC

After my SL55 sat for 6 months my car was sitting on the LR tire. Started the car up got the ABC light. Pushed the raise the car button all went up and down OK, lowered car and up again no problems ABC light went off. Took the car into MB for a service and asked about the ABC issues. They said this is a known problem as stated in the above posts and that this is covered by MB under warranty till 2030 all SLs no mileage limit. If your having problems get your car in and get it checked out.

I thought it was the SBC system that was under warranty, not ABC.....I just spent 3 grand on my ABC system at an indy, that would suck for me if what you say is true.

M-B regards this as completely normal, since the car was idle for so long. No remedial action is indicated, and ABC is no longer under warranty from the factory.
