SL55
Hi again,

I too have seen the pace car in the flesh, close up. It had one piece rims as per this pic:

http://www.graham.jah.btinternet.co.uk/pacecar.jpg

The only 19" multi part rims available for the SL55 from AMG are styling IVs and they don't look like this.

I didn't say that the 55 tested at Nardo hadn’t been 'got at' just that the removal of the speed limiter by AMG on your car will not effect power or torque in any way, it just removes the 155 mph speed limiter and that’s all.

Have a good time in HK

TO GRAHAM AND BLUE SL

Graham

Thanx for the pics. The pic of the pace car is great. The wheels on the car in the picture are not the same that were on the pace car that i went in these were def 19". This sepc wheel is made by AMG just for the pace car.

i had to beg to get a set. From my dealer in Germany. I seem to recall the wheels on the pace car had 5 spoke but slimmer spokes than the one in your pic, and i am told that they are a 2 set rimm

Dont forget there are a few Pace car replicas about as shown on the AMG stand at grand prixs these are just 18".

Thank you for the work sheet. This is what they are chargeing 800 GBP For.

Blue SL
Why should i dump my SL55 for a 996tt, i came from a 996tt to the GT2 Tech -art spec engine 640BHP. Driveing this car is like haveing six first gears .

I require the SL for every day use, pounding up and down the M40.In my veiw there is no better car in its class. Did you know 5 off the current F1 Drivers all drive them, not incl Mclaren team.

Sorry, I mean Swiss David who swapped his 996 for an SL55 and is now saying it's much much slower. Whether that's true or not, the proof of the pudding will be if he goes back to the 996.

I'll keep an eye out for you on the M40 - I do Oxford to the North Circ from time to time when I feel duty bound to make an increasingly rare appearance at the office...

Neither are USA dealers, but they do it anyway. They buy cars from each other so that they may sell them as "used".
