What a pity that prices on these cars drop so fast...

Question You guys will be modding your SL BS's for sure

Some of you guys will for sure buy this SL Black Series and probably mod the hell out of it... 800+ horsepower shouldn't be a problem.....

I wonder what EvoSport has in mind for modding the SL Black Series.... it will end up making even the EvoSport CLK Black Look slow by comparison...

It would be interesting to see a race between this and a heavily modded GT-R V-Spec..... 800HP RWD coupe at a little over 4,000 lbs. vs. Japanese 800HP AWD coupe at around 3,600 lbs.... torque vs. high-tech gadgetry.... who would win?

I am not sure this will be entirely true. The SL65 BS will have the same exact engine as in the current SL/S/CL65. AMG just played with the ECU to free up the extra ponies. I am not sure how many 800hp (640 rwhp) 65's there are right now. I am sure the engine can handle it and has the potential...but not sure the target market for the SL65 BS would be any different than the current 65 owners.

My pennies of thought on some points discussed herein:

I believe this model will retain its value better than others. It is the most bespoke engineering exercise on an existing model, and the production numbers make it a truly limited special edition. I predict this to become a collector's item, though one with worn out tires.

As I have said on another forum, this car is probably already sold out and has gone to people who already own an SLR and/or a Maybach. The traditional 65 AMG buyer may be turned off with the relative "stripper" character of this model.

If I were to own this, its garage mate would probably be an SL63.

How many are MB planning to build and are they going to be as rare as the SLR?

For the sake of comparison, that's 57mm longer, 133mm wider and 12mm lower than a standard SL.

This is not a SL its a different car altogether. The SL is a sexy car this is a race car. Not a bad thing, just different.
