2020 GTR Roadster, 2020 GT63S
I was at the Las Vegas event for the "Private Lounge" sessions. We started on the drag strip Thursday evening and then spent the day driving on Friday.
I have to agree that the new SL 63 is both beautiful and awesome. It ran the 1/4 faster than the CLK 63 Black Series, and that was without using the "Race Start" control. Running the road course was equally satisfying. It outperformed every other model we drove - CLS, E, CL and C. We didn't get to take the Black Series onto the Road Course and I am sure it would clean up on the SL, but for a 4,500+ machine, the new SL handles amazingly well, and accelerrates like a bat out of you-know-where.
I won't give up my S 63 (kids, work, etc.), but I will be spending some quality time behind the wheel of an SL 63.

This mth's Winding Road mentions that SL63 030 actually has identical NBR time to 4000lb CLK63 BS, under 8mins....
To provide perspective, those times on a twisty, somewhat bumpy, mtn track like NBR are similar to those of 3500lb 997TT and ?3300lb 430...
And, given that the 4350lb SL63 030 has perf tires that are safely useable on a rainy day; ample ground clearance for daily use on SF's hills; a 21gall fuel tank for useable commuting range; Btooth/iPod; and a top-down soundtrack that may be world's best....I'd heavily disct nominally comparable NBR times of one-dimensional perf cars that struggle w/daily-useability and/or safety....the multi-dimensional aspects of SL63 030 are truly remarkable when compared to best stuff that P/F can engineer....
One of my colleagues gets his SL63 030 by end of wk (and mine is on water and arrives late May), so hope to get some seat time in this car on local mtn twisties next wkend
