I know that the last part of the SL65 exhaust system (incl. the cool looking SL65 pipes) fits on a SL55 and the SL65 parts also add nicely to the sound of the SL55... Will this also work with the SL63 exhaust? I guess that the SL63's exhaust would be a huge improvement to the SL55's sound.

Does anyone know more ...or even plans to do this?

Why do people always think the sound comes from the exhaust? Putting an SL63 exhaust on won't make it sound like the 63, only the motor will.

If its sound your looking for take off your resonator along with your mufflers and run straight pipes it will be louder than hell and really lets that V-8 roar!

Sorry... but you don't seem to know it any better. Listen to an SL63 (for example in this video: http://www.phj.at/Downloads/sl63amg.wmv) and then listen to the sound of this:

The page is in German, but you only need to press the "PLAY" button on the video that is labeled "Mercedes SL 55 AMG". You will find out that the sound characteristic of the SL55 and SL63 can be almost identical, by just modding the muffler.

I just don't know whether it'd be sufficient to simply mount the muffler of an SL63 on a SL55. Theoretically it should fit though.

I guess my hearing perception is better then yours, the only part of that SL55 exhaust note that common with the SL63 is the fact that it's a V8.

The 6.2 is much higher compression, 11/1 where the 55 is 9/1 amongst other things. The 63 sounds a lot different to me.

That said, that 55 exhaust sounds great.

If you really believe putting on a 63 exhaust is going to make your SL sound like one, try it

Anyone knows how I can beef up the exhaust on my 09 SL550. Any manufacturer? Any links? I am looking to make it sound like the SL63. Any tips is greatly appreciated...

The video of the SL55 sounds like they have simply removed the resonators.
I have heard several SL55 with that mod and thet is exactly what they sound like.

I just bought two SL63 mufflers... I am going to have them mounted by the end of this week (I also bought the diffusor-style backend of the SL63). I'll let you guys know how it sounds/looks by the end of this week.
