SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Car turned off while driving, what might be the problem here?
this past weekend, as I was pulling out of my driveway, the car turned off and I had to start it up again- it was back in good condition.
Now today, as I was heading out of my gym, I was taking a fairly quick turn and the car turned off in the middle of it! I kept pressing the gas pedal with absolutely no power for about a second or two and went back to power.
Anyone have any clue on what's going on? TIA
the car turned off again today while on the road and turned right back on
the other day it turned off and stayed off until I put it in park and restart it

Please keep us posted on this......

The new key could also be the culprit where do you keep it while driving?
Mbe the battery inside the key is not seated properly and it loses signal to the Keyless go...
Whatever the problem this deserves a workshop lookover. My 330i did this and it was a camshaft sensor.

haven't driven my car yet, must say I'm a bit scared to do so. Tomorrow morning it's going back to the shop for a diagnosis test to see exactly what the problem is..
Gosh, I just got the car in February and already having problems. My last car, a BMW 330ci had the same symptoms around the same exact mileage I have on the SL55 (47k) and turned out to be the alternator..
I guess it's just my luck!
I gave the car to mercedes right after, and the guy tells me it's not throwing out any codes

Mysterious problem going on with the car right now, they'll keep the car overnight and find out what's going on, hopefully.
In any case, the above posts indicate several possible reasons for the intermittent problem. When I had the issues they usually occurred after the engine had warmed up. So that may be an additional clue for you or the repair shop.
Too bad an event such as tis that causes the engine computer to shut it down is not recorded so that the repair shop would be able to quickly replace the offending sensor.
Well today I got the car back from mercedes, they told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it. the second I got out of the dealership, it turned off on me, twice.
I brought the car back, took the guy for a spin with me and nothing would go wrong with it!!
So the car is stuck with the dealer for a while until they figure out whats wrong with it.
It's funny, because I went to another dealership (indy shop, Autoscope in Plano, TX) and they said it was my ignition starter so they have a reason to charge me a $95 diagnosis fee. Mercedes told me it was BS and didn't charge me anything since they couldn't find anything wrong with the car, and let me have a free loaner for 3 days while they worked on it
Hopefully it'll stay this way
