I have no doubt you have built the two Z06's however, I strongly doubt the shops ability to tune a car. Kook headers are great headers and WILL net much more horespower after tuning in a Z06. An 08 Z06 is much more capable and has better potential for better gains due to the larger motor. Chassis dyno used also plays a key role in determining numbers. Were you running on a mustang dyno or a dynojet??? Hp readings on both vary widely. I've attached a copy of a dyno run of a fellow vette owner at MTI racing in georgia...one of the most reputable corvette builders out there...hands down. If I was you, I would seek out a different shop for a tune. By the way, the attached pic does not have a baseline run but, the car being dynoed put down 303rwhp stock (or close to that if I recall). That's pretty good for a bone stock vette (99 FRC). It's pretty simple really...more air in...more air out...more power!!!!

Need more proof...here is the dyno graph of C6 z06 with nothing but headers and intake!!!!

I do agree with you in one thing...the cost of headers is wayyyy to high now days. Stainless steel is really not very expensive at all. I understand the cost involved with development (as an engineer, I do cost estimation for R&D from time to time) but $30K for an exhaust manifold!!! Insane!!! I also understand the need of developers to recover R&D cost but someone forgot to tell them that sales volume does wonders for that sort of thing. Charging $30K/ header and selling few units per year does very little when compared to many units per year at a lower cost. just my $.02 I guess it is the price to day for such exclusivity.

As soon as I get done reworking my garage, I will look into getting one of your log type headers. I like the idea of bolt on!!! If they go on sale..let me know Do you offer an ECU tuning to match the headers?

BTW...keep us posted on the 1000hp SL65. I've hand ported and polished LSX heads before and enjoy seeing that sort of work being done to these high end cars!!!

Those #'s on the c6 seem pretty inflated. Most dyno shops will inflate #'s to show crazy gains after they sell their customers on parts and labor. I've watched stock dyno #'s for years on C6 Z06's and they usually come in around 425RWHP. The highest ever recorded on one of the Vette forums was around 440RWHP stock.
There are quite a few posts on the Vette websites that show Kooks and LG headers making between 11 to 20 RWHP on a stock C6 Z06. Cold air intakes average around 3 to 7RWHP on basically any naturally aspirated car at any honest dyno shop.
I will agree that exhaust guys are making ridiculous amounts of money on headers and cat back exhausts. Most of the R&D they are supossedly putting into them is minimal as quite a few of them will copy someone elses exhaust and make a few tweaks if any to make it look a little different. I've sat and watched Lou Bellanger numerous times weld up a set of headers for a Viper by hand and that is a work of art where I can somewhat justify the price. Another shop right next to me is B&B and they take a car and fit the pipes so it has the least retrictions, but even still I can't justify some of the pricing. What happened to the early 90's when you can get just about any cat back exhaust for any car for under $500?

Dyno graphs to follow. We had a client who wanted to do our shorties first, before any other mods.

I will post graphs as soon as I get them.
Still waiting for that dyno sheet as I am interested in getting headers.

LS3 vs Z06

I'm not sure if anyone wants to hear anymore about Corvette exhaust mod's but I can shed a little light on why LS3 engines respond so well to mod's vs a late Z06. The stock LS3 exhaust manifold and catalyst is a cork! Just putting a Z06 exhaust on a LS3 makes a huge difference (Which I did on a 2008). The Z06 exhaust manifold/catalyst is almost a shorty header setup, so while long tube headers should improve HP numbers, they won't show the improvement that the LS3 does when freeing up the exhaust.
