SL55 replaced with M6

Picked up an 08 M6 this morning, white on black, all options cept heated steering wheel and high beam assist.

I still love the benz and will miss that torque, completely different machine. Exhaust note is exotic, steering and brake feel are leagues ahead. More to come after break in is over...

Very Nice I almost purchased one a couple years ago before I bought my SL55. Do you still have the SL500?

I like the M6. But it's just a coupe..., while the SL is 2 cars in one.

m6 is a monster , F** the torque , you'll put some minor mods and it'll hang with 65's on the highway , i think it's not a looker , but sick car overall congrats

A few months ago I struggled with the decision myself, both great cars...still have the 500... for a few more weeks (lease end).

Definitely will miss the 55. It's a great car, much different animal then the M6 though.

I'm not a family man either but those back seats will come in handy in emergencies

This thing pulls much harder up top, I think it'll hit 200 in the same stretch

Haha, that stroker is great but 40k...

I just was checking over there a lot to learn as much as I can about what I would be getting into Mods planned for power, pulleys, scoops, ECU, not much really

Just came back from romping around, I love this thing...

It crossed my mind but a 3rd SL, I need something different. I do agree the interior on the SL is better then on the 6, a trade off I had to take and I'm loving the M6 so far. It's getting better and better the more I drive it

yes, the m5/m6 have a banzai top end.. well over 200 mph and rev-limited .. you simply hit redline in 7th gear at 8250 rpms.. at very high speeds you can chase sl65s even in stock form. just dont try to from anything less than 120...

not much under 3000 rpms, but vary racy once you wind it up.

suspension, steering, brakes feel like a lightened-up version of the clk black series. spot-on.

learn how to shift the smg fast - there is a touch to it (shift-lift throttle a bit-floor). once you master it you will rifle off very quick shifts with the smg.

headers, cats and catback will give you about 35-40 rwhp or so...

i had my experience for about an year and a half with an m5 and it was an absolute blast (i got prolly the first e60 m5 on the east cost)

enjoy.

Congrats. Remember when you were thinking about this and was surprised you went with another SL. Dod you trade in or do a separate transaction? Congrats again and you've made the right choice with the work of art that is the S85.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the new ride! That is still a very decent package. Yeah that $40K price tag is a little hard to swallow.

@ Mike: M6 not a looker??....you must be desensitized. That car is straight fierce.

Awesome choice bro...Im jealous and I think white might be the best choice for a M6 coupe.

Wheels or keeping it stock?

I went with that SL because the white M6 I was working a deal on didn't have the full leather but the cheapo plastic dashboard, then a pristine black on red SL55 came up and I was sold on that immediately. I've always wanted a black on red SL55, oh well...done with that now

It was a separate transaction.

Work of art is what it is, I'm on day 3, around 160miles on her, every day gets better and better
