Sl65 Spoiler problem

My SL65 has a Lorinser rear spoiler. It is attached in spots about 4" apart with some sort of black adhesive. It is coming loose on one side. Any ideas on the right way to reattach it? I also would be happy removing it if I thought I could get the black adhesive off without damaging the paint. Happy thanksgiving all.

Can you tell if it is actually adhesive, or could it be double-sided tape (still adhesive technically)? Most spoilers use tape. You may have to try to find who attached it originally.

If it is double-sided tape, there are many ways to safely remove the spoiler. I have been successful many times using a hair dryer to heat up the tape, then using dental floss to slowly "saw" through the adhesive tape, while pulling up on the loosened end of the spoiler (it's much easier with 2 people). It may take a little while, but this works. Once the spoiler has been removed, the residual adhesive from the tape can be taken off by scraping with a fingernail (don't use anything too hard, which might damage the paint). Any little pieces still there can be removed with an adhesive remover, but I find WD-40 works well too, as long as there is not a lot of adhesive left. Won't hurt the paint at all.

The spoiler can be reattached with a new "set" of double-sided tape once the area has been completely cleaned with soap and water to remove any remaining adhesive or adhesive remover.

It's actually some sort of adhesive. I have installed a spoiler before with double sided tape. This one is not installed like that. The best adhesive remover I know of is 3m adhesive remover but I don't know if it will work with what ever adhesive that is. I like the spoiler but don't want to mess with it until I know what I am doing.

Maybe you can just reattach the loose end with double-sided tape. Sounds like quite a project trying to remove it entirely.
