Questions about tuning
I was looking at a few tuning companies for AMG cars, and noticed something on modernhorsepower.com
I noticed that they said 436 rwhp for the tuning package for the C 63 package, being a 90+hp gain over stock.
From the research I have done, it appears that there is no real difference in these engines with different body styles, MB simply claims different hp numbers, but in reality, all of the 6.2 AMG's put down about 420rwhp, regardless of body style. Does this give a tuning company more room to advertise so that after they tune it, they can claim the difference as if the stock HP numbers from the factory were legit?
Would a 90+hp gain be able to be claimed on the S/CL/SL 63? it appears that in reality, all of the 63 AMG's would get approx. 16 rwhp gain.
I also noticed that for this 63 tuning, the E/CLS cost $1000 more than the C, and SL/S/CL cost $1500 more than the C. Why is this? I was under the impression that the engines were the same, and I figured something such as tuning the same engine wouldn't take any extra time for one car over the other. And a company such as evosport or VRP charges the same price for the same engine, regardless of body style.

While there may be some marketing at work in the stated hp numbers from Merc/AMG, they are actually tuned differently. That difference is mostly in the software set ups.
