(Well, second if you count the rattle that’s now sorted)
Over the last few days all sorts of warnings have been coming up.
In no particular order:-
Parking aid warning
Tyre pressure monitor defective warning
Display faulty warning
Bulb defective warning
ABS defective warning
ESP defective warning
BAS defective warning
Service brake defective warning
SBS failed, emergency brake system active.
All these warnings are intermittent and all clear on their own!
Went to the dealer today who let me watch the star diagnostics PC at work.
On a quick test it displays a long list of components with a tick or ‘F’ for fault against each. It shows if the fault is just stored or still present. All my faults were just stored so they reset them all. Interestingly the star diagnostics system was unable to communicate with the ignition switch, which it should.
As I drove off all the brake system warnings came on again so the cars booked in for next Thursday.
I guess all the faults are one thing, so the ignition switch seems a good bet.
Results to follow Thursday.
Graham.

I'm betting something is wrong with the electronic ignition switch (EIS) too. The EIS acts as a gateway for all CAN data bus information. Anything you see on the instument cluster goes through the EIS first, so a bad EIS may cause most of those warning lights you saw.

I *think* it was Richard who was suffering similar / related issues, which arose from the EIS. You might want to check with him, and he was involved in a lengthy repair process.

After the dealer carried out all of the roof mechanism 'anti rattle' mods and stripped out the boot and rear cabin all to no avail he found it was one of the two rear hand brake cables!
You may have seen in my original ‘rattle thread’ that the rattle went as the car heated up, well the adjuster lock nut was a little slack and it is near the exhaust..........
