brakes, rotors, & replacement parts for SL55
Anyone know where to get brake pads and rotors for my '03 Sl55 AMG? Also a while back I heard about some aftermarket pad (akebono I think?) that offered great performance and little dust, what's the deal on getting those, anyone know? I don't need them right away but will be needing them in the fairly near future...what are the best sources? Online vendors, dealers that offer discounted prices etc...
Also looking for source(s) for other parts that may wear or need replacing down the road in general...any advice/info?

I just called my dealer today funnily enough to get a quote for new discs & pads all round, the thickness is getting down a bit, they are also clogged with dirt & dust and have signs of minor cracking surrounding the holes.
My advice would be stick with OE when doing brake replacements, you may get something performing marginally better but tend to gve you excess dust and more rapid wear (pads)... the originals do tend to last reasonably well and I reckon are fine from performance.
I also requested they price up for replacement of the bushes on the front control arms and wishbones where they attach to the chasis, I had these done on an SL500 and it tracked like a "good-un" afterwards .... the SL55 has now 35k miles and probably gets more wear and tear here in the UK with our roads being considerably more bumpy and undulating than most of what I've seen of the states...I'll let you know the outcome....
