SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Need opinions on this ebay sl55

In search of a sl55
Need opinions on this ebay sl55
I recently sold my 6 series and looking for a 03-04 sl55, silver on berry. I found this one on ebay and it seems like a great price. there are a couple things that turn me off about the car. I noticed it doesnt have a factory amg front bumper and the wheels look like cls wheels.
I was hoping you guys could take a look at the ebay auction and give me your opinions. I am trying to get this car for $31000 and have the dealer throw in a 2 year warranty.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
Milage is TOO high. Its got a 07-08 SL65 front bumprer which may be fiberglass replica and a rear spoiler. Id say an enthusiast had it and it may have been driven hard.

Did you talk about the warranty, what company? Go with a chrystler.. and hey if its warrantied who cares about miles? That car at auction is about a $27k car. So 31k with 2 yr warranty isnt that bad of a deal.

You know I actually have access to manheim auctions here in the bay area but for some reason these cars sell really high in california. Average condition 03/04 sl55's with 50-60k miles sell for $32-36k. These same cars sell for 28-33 in other manheim auctions in other states.

The front bumper is from an SL65 or an SL55 with the 030 performance package. When I was doing my research into the 030 package I found it was available in 2003 but it was very very limited and not a lot of people knew about it. If this is an 03 with the 030 package this is a very rare car. Get the VIN and ask an MB dealer to run the NetStar (I think that's what it's called) report for you. This report shows all the options and the OEM price. Also I don't think 65K is too many miles as long as its been taken care of and you have a warranty. Yesterday I installed a rear spoiler on my 07 and I think it looks great.

I will soon have the front end and already have the SL63 spoiler. I think you are generalizing when you say it may have been driven hard because of the modifications. My SL55 is a 2005 with 8,300 miles on it and it has not been driven hard even with modifications. In any event, I think the mileage is a little too high but the warranty should let the buyer sleep well at night.

Several funny questions here....
That bumper isn't factory, it's obviously aftermarket, as the screens aren't cut out. Also, why does it have the wrong wheels on it? The later CLS style are nice if they are right, but those look like copes, aren't wider in the rear, and they might even be 18". SL55's are just not something you need to mess with if therr are question marks. They are expensive to fix, and only the best ones will bring back money on resale. I sure wouldn't buy that car sight unseen on ebay. Just my .02.....

I live in dallas, if you want I'll go and test drive the car for you. I've seen it listed, the mileage is real high, especially for these cars- you'll have a hard time selling it in the long run with the mileage you put on it
I got my 03 with 40k miles, although I paid close to 6 grand more, it's worth it in the long run.. then again, I've only had the car for a month so I'm not quite sure how it'll hold up

^^^ thanks for the offer bud. I am going to pass on the car. Just going to keep searching and checking out these manhiem auctions. Hopefully i can find a clean one with berry interior for under 35k.
