How fast is sl63 compare to sl55

i do own an 06 sl55 and i see here so many people are confused about sl63 s performance and feel.sl63 owners say sl63 is better in most ways but people who testdrives sl63 say that they dont really prefer trading their sl55 s to sl63.
please kindly give me some real figures about sl63 s performance aginst sl55 s
thnx in advance

Car Whore
if they had put the 55K engine into this new body and possibly with MCT, that would've been a perfect match.
as for now, ive raced a sl55 heads up on the street and i won but i would still take a 55K w/ MCT.

In a heads-up race between a stock SL55 and a stock SL63 the two cars are close enough that whichever car gets the jump will win. The 55K engine makes more torque but the 63's ECT and race start function level the playing field.

In terms of magazine numbers, Car and Driver says the SL63 is 0.1 seconds faster 0-60 and 0.1 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile. Article here: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/..._amg_road_test

When it comes to modified cars, until someone comes up with a supercharger or turbo package for the 63 the SL55 has way more performance mods available. As a result a modified SL55 can be significantly faster than the fastest SL63.

according to what you say ,please tell me whats the point of making a new car which has a performance same as previous model
why not increase the hp and performance alot so most sl55 owners can change their cars with the new one.
many people here would buy a used sl65 when they sell their sl55s not sl63

SL63
the improvements in the sl63 consist of the mct, the electronics (bluettooth and superior navigation) and the ride quality. speed is not the only issue of importance. the car drives totally different than an sl55; in my opinion, the sl63 is much better. if you want speed, get a tt 911.

ofcourse if i could efford a brand new sl63 i would buy that but here in Turkey brand new sl63 costs 250.000 Euros and my 06 sl55 cost me 100.000 euros
i just wanted to say that the new sl63 should have a better performance which i am sure noone would resist .that disappointed me a little other than that sl63 is a very handsome, good performing car with a better gearbox

+1. A lot of folks wonder the same thing. A twin turbo SL63 would have been sweet!

+1. Apart from possibly the engine and the looks--and even there you could debate the point--the SL63 is a better car than the SL55.

But many would rather have a new car. All mine were bought new apart from the 65 (bought from a close friend so knew history)...no way I would wanna take that hit.

A used SL65 is far better than the SL63 which fails at being a sports car as it is a better tourer which is what an SL is... but I'd still take the a new 63 ahead of one as I love that new car smell

I have just part ex a SL55 and bought a SL63.
The difference is they are the same except they deliver the power in a different way.
The 55 would get the jump on the 63 but as revs rise the torque will be
fading on the 55 whilst the 63 will start to develop max torque.
It depends how you like to drive. The 63 however will slaughter the 55
on twisty stuff with it's superb handling and better brakes.
This comes at a price the 55 has a slightly softer ride, which explains most things.
