Long distance driving...
I'm driving to SC and I'm at a truck stop just south of Savanah...1st thing...some scary folks in this diner...I'm glad I've got my sig...
Second, the SL65 is a great long distance driver. The ventilated seats push a lot more air than my E55. The cup holders are surprisingly functional.
Hope I make it through Georgia !

Longest trip I ever made in the SL55 non-stop was 1,030 miles. Longest trip ever non-stop was in the S55 and was 1,429 miles. AMGs are a true joy to drive long distance

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
If you're on 75 on the way home...
stop and I'll buy you a Starbucks coffee. We'll park the 55's next to each other and let them chat.

AMGFan,
Nice selection of weapons, I carry a 229 in .40 and in-state travels the MP5k is in the boot. Going out of state the M1S90 trades places with the MP5k.
Keep safe!

Damn, your allowed to legally carry those types of weapons fully loaded all the time? That's some pretty serious fire power to have at all times, what line of work are you in???

Lauer87, PA is a title II state so all it takes is money ;-)
When transporting long guns/full auto the guns stay in the boot and the ammo/mags ride up front. Use the handgun to fight your way to the real stuff.
I do have all the proper paper.

The only thing I would be worried about is rock chips from the highway, make sure you get a clear bra or use painters tape all over the front
Also, another thing to worry about.. speeding tickets!

As for the speeding tickets.... V1 and some great eyes! If you live in an area with lots of speed cameras (like I do), it could be a good idea to get a Cheetah one, speed camera detector. We carry them, and they are perfect wen you are in an area that you don't know where all the cameras are.

Well...got back ok. Couple of things:
1. I love the ventilated seats. The heat from this bad boy felt great when I had the top down. When it got hot the seats actually helped in cooling.
2. Parts of Georgia and South Carolina I95 need help. Driving on the right lane was like driving on roads hit by land mines...
3. Driving 90mph was like driving 50mph...this baby is the ultimate cruiser.
4. I actually fit my golf clubs in the trunk...taking out the clubs from the stand bag (only type that will fit)...putting the bag in first and laying the clubs across the trunk above the bag. My travel bag sat on the "shelf" behind the seats and my hanging clothes laid on top of the clubs and golf back in the trunk.
5. The looks the car got on the road and the gas stations were priceless.
6. The OEM stereo system is OK just average. Thank god for satellite radio.
7. There was more wind noise coming from the rear driver's side window area. I think I'll have MB check it out to see if a new seal is needed. Also, the OEM Potenzas are really noisy.
8. I LOVE keyless go. The functionality and the look of the shift knob was a hit with my buddies...

But even laced w/100+MPH stints the average only went down to 17.9-18.5MPG

LOL...I don't think I hit 20.1 mpg average you got. 70mph felt like I was standing still...
