AC and R230...anyone..
had any AC trouble with their SL? This is the fourth R230 I've owned and had not had a minute's trouble with the AC. This one is not quite cutting it though. It's simply not cooling well, and the passenger side will not even get as cool as the driver's side. It would appear that it's low on refrigerant which means it's probably leaking somewhere. I thought I had heard about some compressors being replaced on 55 engines--I know they replaced the one on my E55, but that was for bearing noise. Anyone know of any TSB's or experience before I let the dealer have it? Appreciate any help...This is an 06 SL55 with 2/06 production, BTW.

I can't believe that no one has...
had any issues with their AC. I'm beginning to think it's the control panel, as it seems to have a tough time mixing hot and cold air. Anyone?

The only problem I have with my AC is when the "consumers offline" message is displayed on start. Then, when there is enough juice again and the consumers go online, the AC is completely confused in the "auto" setting. It just starts blowing at MAX making the car much too warm then it should be according to the AC dial.
Since the problem is only then, and since finding and killing one of the 'hungry' consumers, I just let it be.

About 4 years into it, the compressor seized. That's about the only real problem I have ever had with the car.
When it seized, the pulley sheared off. Which in turn meant the belt came off. That belt runs the water pump, power steering, ABC.... Needless to say, it was quite entertaining!

Ouch.Hope that was..
a warranty claim. I wonder if this one is leaking, I had heard that there had been some compressor replacments for vibration, etc (as the one on my E55), but don't know about any leaky ones. Does anyone else?
