Mercedes Benz Gave Me A Break
When I bought my 07 SL55 in Oct. 07, I bought a 3 yr./100000 mile Mercedes Benz extended warranty from the dealer. Expensive at $4150 but my logic at that time was I will keep the car forever. As usual, that didn't happen. When I traded in my car, I thought they would give a rebate. No cigar, the warranty was only transferable in a private party sale, no rebate. So much for me reading the fine lines, I just want to get out of the dealer and drive my new car. So I called Mercedes customer service complaining about the warranty issue. Within 2 hours the case worker calls me back and says Mercedes will give you a FREE 3 year/100000 mile extended warranty on your new SL63. So my hat is off to Mercedes on this one.

I totally love the car. The exterior styling is a work of art to me. The interior is way ahead of the SL63. Now on the power side, it's a different story. Car needs another 50 to 60 foot lbs of torque. That isn't going to happen with Ferrari owning it though. Overall I think it's a great car.

I usually answer that with “Figure out what you can afford and want first, buy based on that, and love it for what it is. Too many people get into “this car is better than that car story” and if you do not agree then the arguments begin . I can't stand too much of that. The masi is strong on body style and interior refinement. It is weak on power. It is truly a fine grand touring car. The new SL63 was a step up on interior materials(designo) and electronics over the 55, but I do miss the rare power the SL55 had. I do like the new exterior facelift, but then again I liked the old one too. Never owned a SL600, so I can’t say. When you go to buy: look, compare, and buy the one that stirs you soul the most.

Mercedes did nothing for you! Read your warranty.. You were entitled to a full refund
Most of us are fairly well off financially but it always pays to actually read the documents that you sign.
In this case had you read your warranty you would have known that MB owes you $4,100. Unless your warranty was different then both of the MB 2002+2009 extended warranties that I have.
MB did what they were legally obligated to do under the terms of their own contract. Read your warranty documents the paragraph about cancellation.
According to the warranty contract you are entitled to a full cash refund if you cancel before the end of the original 4yr/50K warranty, or a prorated refund of the unused portion of the extended warranty after it starts.
Your car was a 2007 so you are still covered by the factory 4 year/50k warranty right?
The extended warranty kicks in after the factory warranty ends and since this never happened you are entitled to a full cash refund of your $4,100.
MB suckered you into believing they did something special for you!

I did read the warranty after this issue came up. On mine there is NO early termination clause and it is a standard MB extended warranty as far as I know. The only have an early termination clause (state if texas) 60 days after purchase. The only other clause allows you to transfer to another owner if private party sale. otherwise you are out of luck. It is my understanding that starting in Jan. 08 that has changed. There have been a lot of complaints from MB owners over this issue. Maybe someone who has a extended warranty bought before 08 could look at their warranty and let me know.
