Talking My 2009 SL 65 AMG :-)

Picked her up yesterday! The last two were taken at the dealer. The rest I snapped, quickly at home!

Sickness, I've always wanted a right hand drive SL.

What deal did you get on it?

If I work with today's exchange rate, I got a 105200 USD trade-in for my SL500 and I had to pay a balance of 136000 USD. Sounds like I got taken for a ride if you look at the dollar figures, but here (in SA), I scored big time. Book value of my SL500 was about 88000USD and the base price for an SL65 is 2215000 ZAR - they gave it to me for 1950000 (35000 USD of base). extra 18000 ZAR for the pano roof. I have a feeling the dealer walked away with a loss!

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, GLE 400d, R107 280SL, Golf Polo
Nice wheels congrats - I am looking to bin my E55 for a 05 SL65, can get a reasonable deal here in UK...

I guess the SA govt gravy train keeping the AMG purchases bouyant!!!

Seriously though I think Dealers discounting high cost items quite heavily to reduce their finding costs... car business is properly in a mess according to my father who is still in JHB and works in the industry. So good times for flush buyers!!! ))

Was this ex stock or did you specifically want white? I guess a good colour for durban heat, and the silver is, well, just getting boring now...

@ Stevebez:

Thanks, I'm loving it! The car industry is a mess at the moment. I wasn't planning on selling my SL500 at all. I had aimed to replace my C220CDI with a C280, walked into the dealer and saw the SL65 on the floor (first one in Durban). Never been opened or started and had 3km on the clock. Took it for a drive to La Mercy Beach and I was sold! Got them to knock 300k off the price, sold my C220CDI and my SL500 and I'm sitting pretty! :-)

As for the colour, they tell me its called Diamond White, a metallic version of the Calcite White. Its a great change from the silver (my old SL, C and S were all Iridium Silver) and yeah, great for the heat!

If you do change your E55 for an SL65, you're definitely gonna have fun, and won't regret it... but just watch your fuel consumption, I'm gettting 3km/litre! Costs bout half a grand to fill the tank!

Guys, relax. Its perfectly safe. I've never been held up. (Touch wood) The fact that I still have the car and I'm alive should speak for itself! South Africa is pretty safe. Obviously there is crime, but its not as bad as its made out to be!
