2004 SL55 Deep Dive?

Ok, newbie question here. I've had her for less then a week and I'm trying to learn more about the vehicle.

Where is a good source (besides the user manual) to read about all the cool features that make this car unique? e.g. What parts of the car are aluminum... a bit more about how the ABC suspension works... etc.

I guess I'm looking for a deep dive technical review of the vehicle, not the 1 page fluffy reviews typically found in rags like Car and Driver.

Any ideas?

I was curious as to what parts of the outer body were aluminum and which were steel, so I walked around the car with a magnet and tested each panel.

To my surprise, only the rear quarter panels and the pillars next to the rear window appear to be made of steel. Interesting, as I had thought only the hood and roof were aluminum, I didn't know that the trunk, doors, and front quarter panels were too.

There is a factory service disc available that goes into many of the systems and specs.

I have picked up several PDF describing the SL on:
http://www.mercedestechstore.com/

Ther is also a great book from Mercedes Benz describing the hole R230 project but I've only found it in German.

Well, I ordered and received a 2 dvd set of service manual info from eBay... and frankly, I think they suck. User interface is really weird, pictures are not that clear, etc.

I think I recall seeing others recommending a different set of service CDs/DVDs... anyone have the link, can't find it via search... thanks!

That's what I have and it is great. The disc, along with a STAR system and you are et to go!
