Hi All! I'm new to this forum and new to MB as well. I just purchased a 2003 sl55 and would like to explore the options of upgrading the nav command unit. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions? In the mean time would getting a more recent set of discs help at all? Thanks in advance for any help!

I hear you can't do it short of rewiring the whole car.

Yes and no.

If you want the new nav unit to integrate seamlessly into the rest of the car (e.g. to have the steering wheel buttons continue to work) it's a major re-wire job. On the other hand, if you are willing to live with a standalone nav unit, you can upgrade.

Here's a very good thread started by an R230 owner who did a first class upgrade of his entire nav and audio system: https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-...de-thread.html
