SL 55 AMG
Cool IPOD Integration
Has anybody found a good solution for installing an IPOD integration unit in a 2008 SL 55 AMG? I cant find anybody that makes a unit that they say will actually work? If not, does anyone know if you remove the CDC CD changer, can you simply hook-up an IPOD to that connection and have it play through the system when the system is on the CDC mode? If so any instructions would be great!

Is your goal to be able to control the iPod through COMAND? If not, just use the audio jack in the glovebox. It's like a hidden treasure, lol.

there is no aux port in the glove box. apparently MB did not provide an aux jack and i have been told by the dealer and MB tech support that the Comand unit does NOT have an aux input in this system.

Ah, I just figured it was standard in all SL class cars. My mistake.

so did i when i spent a boatload of money on this car. go figure a cheap $15k car has it but one for well over $125k doesnt

Yes, Dension is the hot tip. Buy direct out of the great white north. Nice to keep the DVD and 6cd changer with the ipod.

2006 SL500/2006 Porsche Cayenne S Titanium
In addition to Dension there is also a Tooki unit available that will not only control your ipod but will also offer bluetooth for a variety of phones. It's apprx. $1200 installed and it works through the Command system. Just another alternative. Good luck!
