I figure I share this with you all if you havent heard about it. I just got my test kit will be sending it when I do B service on the SL.

Are you changing your oil often enough? Too often? Is that synthetic oil really worth it? A decade ago, the commercial multi-weight oils on the market were similar. We didn't see much difference in the various brands, and the only real choice for consumers was the grade. Then synthetics were introduced, as were many types of oil additives. Suddenly the question of what to put into your engine became more complicated

Oil analysis can identify any problems developing in your engine long before they cause you an expensive headache. Or maybe you'd just like to get a good look at the microscopic wear your engine is producing. Can you run a fill of oil longer than 3000 miles? Are your oil and air filters doing a good job? We can answer these questions and more when you submit a sample of your engine oil for analysis.

Gas Report One....Example

GASOLINE SAMPLE REPORT 1
This report shows how valuable wear trends can be for determining the health of an engine. We could see this V-8 headed for problems more than 5,000 miles before a failure (at a piston) occurred.

I just took my oil sample today. Very interested to see my results after 4K miles and 15 1/4 mile passes.

For the price ($22.50), there's no reason why everybody isn't doing this at least every other oil change, just to keep an eye on things. Using this analysis, Blackstone has the ability to forecast potential internal problems. I change my oil every 5K or so, just to be safe. Some say it's a waste of money, I say it's peace of mind. I'm gonna get the analysis done every other oil change, which would be every 10K miles. This will be great information for the eventual new owner.

They typoed the displacement of the engine. They've since sent me a corrected version.
