Are you guys into concave wheels????? or would you rather have a 4" lip?

What do you guys think of this concept? The wheel will come in 20x9 and 20x10.5 and will have a 1.5" lip in the front and rear. Only difference is the rear will be really concaved.

I want to know if you guys like the concave look or if you prefer having a big 4" lip in the rear.

I've always loved the deep lip look before I could even drive, and probably always will.

However, I know a few other rim companies have started to push the rim spokes as FAR out as possible and it actually looked really good. Good illusion to make rims look bigger due to no lip and filled fender nicely.

I agree that I would always prefer the deep lip over the concave look although depending on the car it might look good either way. I have a set of original HRE 547s which have a very small lip on my corvette and also have a set of iForged wheels with 4" lip in rear for my sl55. I must say that I love the deep lip more. The look of the car becomes more menacing and wide looking in my opinion.

Zero lip for me. While I like some of the wheels with lips, everybody has them these days and most are butt ugly imho of course..... My guess is the zero lip like the HRE monobloks are starting to become more prevelant and are growing in popularity.

[edit] btw, I like the design of the wheel in post #1, how about a 10-spoke?

I prefer to see the wheels prior to make a decision.
Several weeks ago I did received an email from a wheel builder who will introduce Concave wheels on 2010. There were 3 concave wheel types and ALL of them really look very nice!!!

You will make your money with the 4" lip in the rear and the 2 1/2" lip in the front, it's a nice staggered look. Not all wheels with deep lips look good, so you would need to place some thought into the wheel before purchasing. I have learned from experience that short cars such as the SL look nice with 5 star or split spoke wheels, while larger 4 door cars such as the E and the S class look good with a full face wheel. With the staggered look you should let someone else drive your car and follow along side of it, you will be impressed as to how your car looks moving, most people never see themselves driving and don't realize how nice the car looks with the staggered look. Yet again it also depends on your wishes I guess, some people just settle for the stock look and that's kool as well.

moderate lip in the rear looks good on the SL 3.5 - 4" ...I have 3.5" R and 1.5" front; nice aggressive staggered setup; and for the SL that works...concave is great for track, race, or more touring car sort of setup; maybe a concave with amoderate lip would work on the SL 230, have to see a rendering on a car to be certain though
