SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: CONTEMPLATING 2005-2006 SL65.. FEEDBACK APPRECIATED
anyhow, life isnt the same since.. i miss my sl55.. but figured life would be sweeter with a low mileage sl65.
for those who have driven both, what do you think?
also, what of the sl600 compared to the 65 and 55?

I know I'm a newcomer to this part of the forum but your opinion is exactly that, your opinion. It all depends on what the OP is looking for in his SL. While looking for my SL I drove a few SL55's and really was convinced that's what I wanted. However, I feel that my SL600 trumps all of the SL55s I drove. If the OP is looking to track the car and go round corners at insane speeds, then yes, I fully agree. Get either iteration of the AMG SL and don't look back. But, if it's going to be a daily driver and not road raced on a track, then I have to say the buttery smoothness of the SL600 is hard to beat. The massive amount of torque of the V12TT has more real world use than the blown SL55. Plus the SL600 is faster than the SL55.

Now, if you want the best of both worlds, the SL65 is the bee's knees.
SL55 = Brute force w/ stiffer suspension and sharper shifting
SL600 = Massive torque, buttery smooth engine, more comfortable
SL65 = Dr Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. Smooth as an SL600 when around town and the mind scrambling hp/tq of a full blown race car when driven hard.
Good luck with your search. There's not a bad choice in the bunch. Since you're a dealer and have the ability to purchase wholesale, I say get the SL65 and drive the ever loving crap out of it.
