Help replacing air filters!!

Good day everyone. I have poked aruond the site trying to figure out this but did not come up with anything solid. Can someone explain to me step by step how to remove the 2 air filters in the engine bay? Also how do I remove the other filters in the cabin?

I tried removing the ones in the engine but after unscrewing the screws I didn't know if I needed to force off the covers or what because they did not come off easily.

Also, what brand and where to buy all of these filters (since people say to stay away from K&N)?

Thank you.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
I just bought a set of K&Ns and put them in. I have used them in all my cars for 20yrs.
Back all those screws out and pry off the tops of the housing. Dont give up.
The cabin filters are held in by the 2 rectangles with straps over them. Slide the straps back and they dissengage the covers. Pull them down. then pull the filters down.
No body ever said working on these cars was easy.
Cabin filters and K&Ns on ebay. About $150 total.

Where exactly are the cabin filters located?

+1 on the K&Ns. I am patiently watching the thread for a response regarding the cabin filters so I can learn how to change mine.

I am surprised to sell 2 positive responses with regards to K&N because I have heard a lot of AMG owners bash them that is why I wanted to know what people use and recommend. I to want to know how to change my cabin filters and where they are.

I just bought a set of K&Ns and put them in. I have used them in all my cars for 20yrs.
I have used K&N and AFE filters in all of my cars and trucks for close to 20 yrs too, high performance or not and have never had problems. K&N's were used in Apache helicopters in Iraq for years simply because they work effectively and reliably. Besides if you have numerous cars its way easier to clean and reuse then always having to go buy replacements.

I have K&Ns in all my cars, and I recommend them for the cars we tune. They work great. The only problems arise when they are cleaned and oiled. Many owners over oil them and they foul the MAFs.

Don't hesitate on K&Ns. As far as taking the airbox covers off, just keep at it. They seal very well and make it a little difficult to take off.

Never had a problem with K&N's. I have used them since their introduction and won't own a vehicle that doesn't have them. Problems occur when owners remove and clean them and then over-oil them. More oil is not better.

How do you remove the paneling, just pull on it or are there screws?

Stick your head down there and you'll see the screws.

I used K&N's in my Porsche 996 and it fouled the MAF causing check engine lights. You can clean the MAF but mine eventually just didn't work even after cleaning it. It was a 350 dollar repair from what I remember. So are the minimal performance gains worth it? You be the judge.

BTW...I oiled the filters just like the K&N manual said to.

I also used K&N for over 20 + years. Mercedes, Mustang, Corvette, X5, M3, Acura, Honda, Suburban, you name it. I never had any problems with it. As others mentioned it problem usually occurs when you over oil the Filter. I even use the K&N in My Prius.

k&n's in my 32. the issue most have with the filters is they load them to heavily with oil and /or they dont let them dry completely before reinstalling. use the k&n oil spray and go lightly , allow to dry for 30 min. and you shouldnt have any fouling issues.
green filters have been known to disintigrate due to high heat
