AMGfan SL65 Build Update...
I had the new single slat grill put on the SL65 with the chrome trim painted satin black.
I also had the exhaust tips extended out about 2 inches and had them reshot.
The center caps I started out with started to have paint chips, so I switched over to carbon fiber center caps with the chrome star painted satin black (THANKS Olin for the 411 on the center caps)...
The CPT heat exchanger was installed...
Still on the to do list:
1. They have done the initial carbon fiber head unit trim piece (the raw piece that was just shrink wrapped with carbon fiber). It still needs several layers of clear and several sessions of sanding to get it just right and a match for the rest of the carbon fiber interior.
2. The Renntech toe links will be installed in about a week and half.
3. We are replacing the rear SL63 spoiler with a Revozport version. I just didn't like the fit with the spoiler (finish was fine)...just too many gaps that irritated me.
4. C2Design is working on a similar reservoir system that Thericker brought to light (THANKS Sean). Along with that, we are thinking of trying out a CO2 intercooler system. I'll pass on more info on both projects...along with photos.

I like the single slat grill and the carbon fiber center caps look great! Good job on extending the exhaust tips too!
Looking forward to see your to do list completed.

WOW Jon, the cars really turning out great. Love all the pictures.
A while back someone said they measured the SL63 grills and they were several inches longer than our older grills. So they couldnt be substituted. Was that a false alarm, or did you have to cut it down to fit it in the bumper?

PS I'll take pics tonight with the hood up...showing the fit.

I'll be honest when I clicked the link, I didn't expect to be this impressed. Nice work. What rear diffuser is that? Nice car, well built.

Good move with the tips extension. That was my only gripe about your car. Looks like I now have nothing to complain about. Absolutely spot on hawtness.

The grill is def growing on me, so you used the new OEM SL63 grill? I too measured it, it's longer, thinner than our reg 2003-2008 grills, please post link where to buy this Also your old grill didn't have the Distronic but this one appears to have it? This is money $hot

to bump this..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...Q5fAccessories
thats the grill you have..
my question is.. they have the 1 with mesh, which is more like the oem sl63 grill... however, the real 63 grill goes deeper and THAT is where the mesh is..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
you can see the mesh grill there... I am looking to do this in the color scheme of my car.. I am torn which grill to go with. (car doesn't have distronic) so I can use either..
Now look at it blacked like yours but with the mesh kind of:

and a pic of a stock 63 grill:
http://l.yimg.com/dv/izp/mercedes_be...ior_grille.jpg
see the mesh?
I'm thinking the mesh may look better than the glossy black fill thats in the 1st grill
and for giggles.. the SLS grill:

If you purchase this one from ebay they send you both... capped middle section and mesh backing... you can mix and match as you please.

I have a question, what lights do you use for those middle lamps, I don't know how you call it in US... I tried everything, but instead of the light I get blinking lights.. Could you help me? Because I really hate seeing my xenon near yellow day lights.
