TOOK IN ON TRADE TODAY: 2004 SL600.. MY IMPRESSION
solid car, lots of torque, very smooth.. but not nearly as much 'fun' and cooperative as the SL55 which i felt was more responsive and sporty.
the sl600 feels heavier and more stable that the SL55, and the turbo lag while minimal still exists. it feels like the turbos are undertuned.. as if they lack *****... has anybody chipped one of these and if yes hows the difference?
overall, if i had to choose between the sl600 and the sl55 id probably go with the sl55 just because it has a more stylish appearance with the quad pipes and the AMG emblems in/out. horsepower feels about the same.
pros: torque torque torque.. smoother ride
cons: weak exhaust sound, slight turbo lag.

Every 600 that we have tuned becomes very fast, but the 600 chassis is just not as well set up for performance driving as compared to the 55.
If you are a 'driver', the choice is the SL55 AMG!

2006 sl55
i am indeed a dealer.. i drove my 06 sl55 for 7 months.. loved it.. i posted an ad on autotrader as we have an acccount with unlimited car postings.. $45k.. didnt think anybody would bite... sure enough 7 months later this german dude walks in with 45k cash no haggles no negotiations and takes it down... its one of only few cars ive ever been attached to.... so it had to be replaced.... and it has beenj!
my sl600 is truly bad ****.. 20 inch assantis (tasteful wheels not the nasty types if you know what i mean), pana, push, keyless, active cruise, ventilated, tint.. 37,000 miles.... clean carfax 2 owner.. PRISTINE condition.. took it in for $39,000.

powerful than the 600 but the same engine.
It felt heavy, very smooth and very quiet.
My 55 in comparison felt lighter more agile, more fun, better exhaust note.
Even the sales guy who drove my 55 for a part ex price said he preferred it
to the 65. I think the 65 is the ultimate long distant cruiser though.
