SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: lowering ABC & AIRMATIC II (photos)
At first: I am a new member here at this forum from Stuttgart, Germany
I hope I can be helpful to you about lowering the AIRMATIC II and ABC systems.
I have the new E 55 AMG V8K (W211) and I am going to lower it about 60 - 70 millimetres.
Here in Germany there are 2 ways to do this:
1.) You could lower your car by the electronical way. Which means that the "Steuergerät" (sorry but I don`t know the english word for the electronical "head" of the car) must be manipulated by the computer with an external "mini-Steuergerät"
costs: about 1.000,-€
the problem: not all systems allow to lift the car higher again by the driver. It means that your car will always be low.
By the way your warranty is lost.
2.) It could be mechanical. A specialist here in Germany, called MARIANI is the best u could go with your car to get it lower.
The driver could still lift the car at about 40 ~ 60 millimetres.
You tell him how you want your car and he is doing that.
I am gonna send U pictures when my car is finished by him.
Here examples of his work:

I'm saving for a 2005 SL AMG... I just can't wait and that'll be the first thing I do... Nice...
You have a nice car man!!!
But here in Germany you have to got the new SL to be in. There are too much of the W129.
If you have some questions I will help you!
(sorry again for my bad english)
btw: E 55 AMG V8K: Don't worry about your english, its prefectly fine for this forum

Is the electronical way your talking about by going to a Mercedes Dealer and doing it? Hooking up the car to Star Diagnostics?

The reduced suspension travel will make the thing ride like a farm cart as well. No wonder your warranty is out of the window.
I know there are a lot of R230s in Germany, but for those people waiting for a car, this must seem almost criminal!
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I find it difficult to believe those wheels will not come into contact with the bodywork on uneven road surfaces, you've lost the MB star from the grille too, IMHO it looks awful.

I agree, it looks like a slammed rice burner...... No class! But to each their own I suppose.

But fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror would be going too far.......
I am going to the garage to take a look at my standard, spit shined, SL 55, so that my retina gets cleared from that monstruosity.
ok, they do good work, but an SL or even an AMG is such a beatiful car. you have nothing (maybe other wheels) to change on it. but there are always guys that can´t get enought:
