Here in Lebanon we've had a few successful conversions that also include rear bumper diffuser ,19" wheels and tires and rear spoiler, glass roof...Total cost $ 15.000
Mostly done on 55's but also some 500's....
I am currently looking at a 2003 55 , black black, full conversion for $ 60K...car has 70K miles.
Again, it's a mater of taste and money...$60K versus $120K for a 2009 SL 63...

After being burned many times as a youth on modifications, I learned that you had better be in love with the car and mods, because it will be yours, and very few (if any) will actually pay for those mods when it comes time to sell.
...... And when those mods start getting to 50%+ of the actual worth of the car, as good as it looks, that money is just not recoverable.
As much as I like the new look (I also think the old is brilliant), the only time I would even consider doing this is if my SL55 happened to accidentally meet a tree or some other very firm object.
One of the reasons I started Veloce Performance, was to satisfy my performance mod bug, AND keep the cost/benefit ration reasonable.

A few more photos of my SL55 to SL63 conversion. Also had an AMG Black steering wheel and paddles fitted at the same time. Having used a SL63 for 4 weeks abroad, I'm delighted I stuck with my SL55 Kompressor!
ALL parts fitted were 100% MB. The car now has 17k miles with every optional extra and is genuine showroom condition. So what's it worth if I chose to sell it?

Valentina, lets see some pictures!
Rivitman, the conversion looks great, you should add the new SL63/SL65 LED tail lights to finish the look.

You will have to find someone who wants a 55, that looks like a 63........ and is willing to pay for what you have done. From my experience, there will be people who like what you have done, but they won't pay for it.... and even may try to devalue it, as it really isn't 'original'.... even though you used MB parts.
My best advice is to drive it and enjoy it...... for you.

But for the SL? No!
No surprise the new "63" is a s/c 5.5 again.

You're right. I meant supercharged as opposed to a naturally aspirated engine. But you're right about the difference between supercharged and turbocharged.
So yea...:
"No surprise the new "63" is a turbocharged 5.5!"
