No Option for "Active Steering Bi-Xenon" headlamps on SL models...?
So I've been researching the available options for various years of the SL Class and can't seem to determine if "Active Steering Bi-Xenons" are available. I've come to love that option in my 05 E500 as I drive tight, twisty mountain roads here in Colorado and having the headlights rotate to illuminate corners has become priceless... Problem is, I don't see that option in any SL class brochure I've seen... I have seen "Corner Illuminating Bi-Xenons" but that option consists of the foglights illuminating the corners when turning under 25MPH, which isn't the same... Anyone know if that option is/was available in the SL's say from 2004 on...?
Thnx...

Hmmm, interesting... Makes me wonder why they wouldn't offer that option on one of the Flagship models... I think it's a great option on my E500...

I guess that's your 2 cents worth of useless opinion... Ever driven a twisty mountain road in Colorado during a blizzard..? Active steering headlights have saved me from collisions with Deer, Elk, Bighorn Sheep, Black Bear and even once a rock slide... Do you really think MB Engineers would have put the effort into the feature if it were only a "gimick" ...? Thanks anyway for your input...

On my 09 SL63, the low beam xenons are active (curve illuminating based on steering angle) but not bi-xenon. High beam come from regular H7 bulb. No bi-xenon flap extending the range of the low beam HID when high beam is activated.

Just a thought, you should give them a call and tell them about your multiple harrowing escapes from death and dismemberment... they might feature you in a TV commercial! "Seatbelts, airbags and antilock brakes are fine, but chances are they will never save you from a hungry black bear or a bighorn sheep during mating season. I thank God for the engineers at Mercedes who designed my corner illuminating bi-xenons. They saved my bacon countless times in the twisties. Yours truly, Sdunham, Colorado USA."

Hey sdumhan
I just read your post and the active curve illuminating is standard and so are the bi-xenon
headlights. They do work very nicely.
