Extended warranty policy CHANGE of Chryslerfactory
Hi all. I've been a long time lurker but my first post here...
I received a recent email from Michael at Chrysler/Harold Zeigler on 12/20/09 indicating that their current process was "under review" and that the vehicle "must be within its 4 year/50k mile factory warranty to qualify for a Chrysler Service Contract."
So does any one have any personal decent/good experience with any other extended warranties that covers SL-class that are out of manufacturer's warranty? (Especially one that covers the vario roof)? I've been searching for one for my 2005 SL600 and not much luck yet.
Thanks all.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
It is getting tougher for all (reputable) brands, thus..
the corresponding drop in prices on cars that are out of warranty. In my tiny car business, I rarely take in anything of real dollar value unless there is some tiny bit of coverage to pass to the customer. Really tough for them to get....and expensive when they can.

You may want to call him and ask him directly if he might not be able to make this work??

You omight also try...
Zurich. (This is the old Universal Underwriters). They will write a car out of warranty I believe, but only with an inspection and a service visit. Gotta make sure you get the better level of coverage, their basic doesn't cover much.

I believe that both Mercury Insurance and Fidelity Warranty Services will write extended warranties after expiration of the mfg's warranty. I think that both require an inspection prior to activation of the warranty. I have policies with both companies. Mercury has been excellent and I have not had to use the Fidelity policy as of yet.

Any more info on this? There have been some conflicting stories in the past about Michael.
Here is a excerpt from the website:
Q: When can I purchase a Chrysler Service Contract?
A: New Vehicle Service Contracts can be purchased anytime within 4 years and 48,000 miles of the vehicle's warranty start date (the date the vehicle was delivered to its original owner). Surcharges may apply after 1 year or 12,000 miles.
Certified Pre-Owned Service Contracts can be purchased on Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep® vehicles with an active, Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty and an odometer that reads less than 80,000 miles. Lifetime contracts for Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles must be purchased within 4 years and 48,000 miles of the vehicle's warranty start date (the date the vehicle was delivered to its original owner).
Traditional Pre-Owned Vehicle Service Contracts can be purchased on vehicles that are no more than 10 model years old and with an odometer that reads less than 125,000 miles. Your dealer will complete a Vehicle Inspection to ensure the vehicle is eligible for coverage.
Most – but not all – Convenience and Maintenance (non-mechanical) Service Contracts can be purchased on vehicles that are no more than 10 model years old and with an odometer that reads less than 125,000 miles. Some Convenience and Maintenance (non-mechanical) Service Contracts have specific enrollment rules. Please visit your local dealer for details.

If you can't get the chrysler warranty I would spend the $3k on a different brand. It really is worth it. You probably will get this back if it ever needs work.

Thanks all.
I purchased my warranty from an authorized MB dealer in Chicago suburbs from the Finance Director whom I have known for years. I will be happy to refer you and I am sure she will try to give you the best deal possible.

Easy care is easy crap
They dont cover ABC components as well as top motors and other key 230 parts.
Its buyer beware with anything just read carefully and asking LOTS of questions.

Actually I disagree with you completely. I have the contract with me right here and read the exclusions - the above are NOT excluded.
EasyCare has 4 different products: 1. PowerCare; 2. PrimaryCare; 3. StatedCare; 4. TotalCare.
TotalCare is the exclusionary coverage which means if it is not stated in the exclusions - it is covered. There is no exclusion for ABC or convertible motors therefore they are covered.
P.S. The Chrysler warranty also has multiple options and I am sure if one picked a non-exclusionary warranty, they will also not cover the above components.
