Finally got around of installing the rear view camera on my SL63.

Use a license plate mount rear view camera (BOYO brand) from Crutchfield (went for the license plate mount camera due to lack of space to mount regular style rear view camera). Note: Still able to access the manual trunk latch lever even with the camera mounted.

The time consuming part was to run the thin camera wire all the way to the console mounted display. Another issue came about is that the instruction that came with the kit was for regular SL (not SL63) which has slightly different shifter hence different trick in taking the top part of the console out (need to take the aluminum cover plate and then the shifter slider out first).

Other than that the install was pretty straightforward and work the first time around (after activating the rear camera using the steering wheel buttons)

I'll take some pics

Rick SL55:

Yes the BOYO VTL425 plus the kit/module from MidCity Engineering

Andy and Rick:

Call http://www.midcityengineering.com/ to check for application.
My 09 SL use the NTG 2.5 command unit but I see on their website that it works with the older command units

Pic of module/wiring below:

Nice pictures. Did you wrap the grill yourself or had someone else did it for you?

Did it myself. Rather easy using the 3M Dinoc CF film, just use heat gun to assist in the curvature, plus all the plastic chrome parts detach from the black grill. Also covered the gloss black horizontal grill with matte black vinyl.

I thought about wrapping my grill but was wondering how to take the chrome star off. Nice work.

Take off the grill and look from the back of the grill (Star) and you'll see the tabs

I tried to take off the chrome strips on my C before and it didn't turn out well. I'll give it a try again tho. Thanks.

On my SL 63, the horizontal chrome strips can be taken off by sliding it out away from the center star (with the grill out of the car)
