Is My Dealer Lying To Me?
I had a contract for an SL55 with Glauser Mercedes in Sarasota, FL. It was supposed to be either a May or June build. I got a call from the salesman today and he said I wouldn't be able to get a car until December. He told me SL55 production was cut from Mercedes and he didn't have an allocation for me.
Is this true? Any ideas of what I should do? Does anyone know of any cars available at MSRP at another dealer?

anything is possible.
maybe the dealership sold a ton of SL55s outside its geographic area. when MBUSA finds out about that sort of stuff they cut the dealer's allocations substantially.
i was supposed to be getting a late CY 2003 or early CY 2004 car and my dealer just told me they're getting many more than they expected (2 per month instead of 1-2 per quarter) and i might end up with a summer 2003 build slot.
who knows.
doody.

I Don't know the name of the dealer's name but it was in sarasota and they were moving a lot of sl55's through a guy that was posting availibitiy on eabay.I spoke with him & he wanted me to pay $5000.00 and then he was putting me in touch with a sales man that was going put me on the top of the list for the next availiable car. But the guy ****ed up &slip by telling me the dealer's name in sarasota,So i called direct. There was something shaddy about the hole thing and i just blow it off but I think they sold a ton of car's out of sate like the guy in the previous post said.

I bought my car from Glausser, they seemed to be quite reputable and they had all the hard to get models there or available while my local dealer said the wait would be 9 mos etc. My saleman's name was David and he came through for me.
PS When I was last there I saw two new black SL55's a black cl 55 and silver clk55 for sale.

Just to annoy you all...
In the UK I placed a £2000 deposit in October 2002 and was told delivery would be end of 2003, possibly early 2004.
In mid-December (8 weeks later) the dealer called and said they had a cancelled order and I could get a car arriving in January - I took up the option and have now covered 1,400 amazing miles.
This is from the primary London Mercedes dealer and I have no affiliation.
I also wanted an X5 4.4i Sport for the wife - most BMW dealers are quoting 6/9months delivery - 3/4 calls later and I got one in a couple of weeks.
I'm amazed that the Sunday Times still has X5's and SL55's at over list when some ringing around and a little patience is may be all that's needed.
