2004 SL55
SL55 newbie with questions

Bought a 2004 SL55 with 3600 miles. Car sat in a garage for the last few years and only was started once in a while. Just starting the process of getting it ready for the road. Been lurking on the forum for a while knowing I was buying the car.

The main battery is bad and the starting battery is a bit run down. Dealer parts dept says a new main battery is about $200 bucks and $160 for the starting one. That sounds higher than what I have seen in posts. Tried talking to the MB Roadside Assistance but they would not say anything until I gave them a bunch of contact info. I did gather they would direct my issue to the same local dealer which seems like the battery cost would be the same.

Car has a donut spare and a pump. I thought the SL55 did not come with a spare?

The trunk mat on top spare is super stiff and deformed like a potato chip. Is this normal?

Car does not seem to have tire pressure sensors TPMS. Was TPMS an option? Seems kinda cheezy for this car.

Radio knobs are sticky. The rubber seems to have gone bad. Again normal?

Car has had the A service done about 2 years ago. The top got stuck about the same time and was fixed. Not much service history on the car. How many Recalls or Bulletins should the car have been serviced for?

Congrats on the car. Get all the fluids replaced asap. I think the spare was an option but not 100% sure. You can contact MBenzNL for the battery; Steve should have a better price than dealer. TPMS was an option. Sticky radio knob is normal and you can just scratch the rubber off. After you get the rubber off it'll has a smooth surface like the rest of the radio buttons.
