Post 2011 Model Porsche Turbo S Convertible/Coupe, would any of u consider it?

What do you guys think of the new 2011 model Porsche Turbo S, which now has 530 horsepower with that AWD and 7-Speed dual-clutch transmission setup? Its been said that the standard new 911 turbo can hit 60 MPH in 3 seconds flat with the dual-clutch transmissiona and Sport Chrono Plus... so this Turbo S should be in the high 2's.... very fast indeed.... It seems the interior materials and quality is a step above any other production Porsche so far also.... the options list lets customers load it up to the hilt with leather covering every single surface plus carbon fiber and all the high-tech and luxury gadgets available....

Would you guys consider this over an SL? Why or why not? interesting....

OK it's a nice car, but I don't see much difference.
I would choose an SL everytime after driving a 997TT, to hard, bad ride.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
Its a totally different car than a SL or any other Mercedes.
Completely different feel and ride. You have to decide if its for you or not.
Just go drive a new turbo, then go drive a new SL and decide which one you like better.

SL is a great long distance car, a Grand Touring (GT) car, a boulevard cruiser, a classy hard top convertible, the perfect roadster...that happens to lay down some real power and be very competitive with sports cars...it is not however a true sports car which the Porsche certainly is...there's really not a fair comparision...one can say well if I mod the SL it can beat the turbo or turbo S in straight line, maybe...but mod the porsche and it's game over for any benz, plain and simple.

You can easily option a 2010 997 TT cab to around $200K. In that price range it seems more appropriate to compare the SL65. Although, the 997 Turbo S will still out accelerate the SL65. How much of a price bump for the Turbo S?

Before it turns into a Yank the paint job
The way I see it is, you either prefer the look of the Porsche or the SL.
Once you have established that then as far as I am concerned it's speed.
TMC M5 is probably right in saying that it's faster than any stock SL, but speed isn't everything. I drove the 997 TT which must be representable of the new one and I found it very uncomfortable, a drone inside( might have cured on the new one) and those damn offset pedals. I don't think they will ever be able to make it comfortable, just think of all that weight hanging on the back, and low profiles running 44 lb pressure.
Porsche have definately had a down turn in the UK by trying to emulate the old shape. It's OK to keep something iconic but they must make there front
look more interesting. I know it was a stock 977 I saw next to a GTR, but the GTR IMO killed it for looks, and at 50k perhaps that's where the buyers are going. Sorry for rambling on.

That TTS is nice, but if after optioning out it came to $200K I would would look at another ride like a Ferrari 430 or California since Ferrari is giving factory warranty now.

SL600 (1000 hp), Cayenne S, 996TT EVO GT750, F430 Spyder,A real Ford GT, 08 Gallardo Spyder
This past weekend I spent 2 days at Porsche's high performance driving school and with the exception of 2 hours, I spent 2 full days on the track. I pushed the cars pretty hard (Carrera, Carrera S and TT, including some with the pdk and some without the pdk trans) and I will tell that I am now in the market for 911 TT. I would not trade in my SL600 nor would I buy a new 911 TT. You can pick up a 2003 for under 50K (2001 for under 40K), "chip it" and upgrade the intake and get about 510 hp. If you pick up one with an X50 package (k24 turbos vs k16), you can tune them to about 580 hp for under 3k, unlike the v12TT benz.
So for me, it would be impossible to compare the two cars.
