I've worn my keyboard out searching...anyone make a carbon fiber dash/door inlay kit for the SL65?

Guys,

I just sent out my dash trim pieces to DCT motorsports after getting a price back from Mercedes for a real dash kit (scary, I tell you). Although DCT does not make REAL CF dash kits, the quality of their work is great and they can make you a steering wheel to match (something AMG does not do). I will be posted pictures in my build thread when they come back along with my steering wheel.

You can get your steering wheel AND entire dash kit made for less than just the price of the pieces from AMG.

DCT does great work and would have gotten it from them but at the time they didn't work on the SL that I knew of...I just got my kit from Ebay.

The pic below...the steering wheel is from DCT, the gear shift is from Performance Products, and the trim around the head unit was made by my tuner house that I use...

These are the pieces you get from a kit:

A pic with the CF pieces with stock head unit and original all leather DCT steering wheel:

Jon,

Your interior came out great. My steering wheel will be similar to yours except I have alcantara around the thumb grips and I have the SL63 paddle shifter conversion.

I am sure your interior will rock, too. I love the flappy paddles on my SL steering wheel. Putting my hands on the stock steering wheel and the one I have now is night and day...it is so damn meaty now.

I dont know exactly what parts you are aiming for. But I have only seen a couple of different CF parts made for r230, by Renntech. That would be mega dollars.
Only ones available seem to be the console panel and 2 door trim panels. if you want other parts in CF, you have to have them custom made. This is very common but very expensive. I had alot done for my 911 by a place in Calif. I then found a local in Tampa to do the same.
You can do virtually any part. Take the part and strip off the outer covering. Then use CF resin and wrap the part. Then vacuum it down. Then coat it with a base coat of urethane and then spray it with several more coats of urethane.
This is how all the factory pieces you buy are made. Only very few are accutally made as preformed carbon fiber and baked.
This is the method DCT is doing with the wheels and the 3 pc sets they are selling.
This is genuine carbon fiber, make no mistake. And it is as the same stuff you are getting from mercedes, or porsche, or any of the others.
So you can basically take any part you please and send it to.. say DCT and get it carbon fibered. And PS, its BIG BUCKS

Very, very nice! I've searched eBay as well, maybe not using the right keywords. Do you know the seller's screen name?

You can get the 3pc kit from performance products for about $2400

I was going to say performance products as well. They deal with MP Design and there stuff is excellant but expensive. Also very slow, have a couple things ordered from them and it's going on 4 months with no end in sight.

yes they get the sets from germany one by one. but it only takes 4 to 5 weeks for one I bought. If you are ordering some one of a kind part, yes its gonna be made one at a time. But my CF porsche parts took 4 to 5 months to get from Cal.
Compare 2400 to 3200 which is what DCT wants for their dash kit
