SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: SL rust issues
anyone heard of this? has MB recognized this issue?
When you wash it do you blow the water off or do you simply wipe it down, pull it in the garage and cover it up? Your problem is obviously caused by water sitting in that area. FWIW, I use a leaf blower and blow the water out of those type areas as well as off all the panels/wheels and I've never had a car have rust issue (well, when growing up in MN I did but that was for obvious reasons......). I know that doesn't help much now so good luck with the fix.

but still, i wonder if this is a design issue, cause water shouldn't pool anywhere

My guess is the person doesn't blow the water out of areas like the one giving you the problem.I think you could probably ask the design issue question on most cars. There are pockets that hold water and if water is allowed to sit in those areas long enough too many times it will eventually rust. Probably made worse when a car is washed and immediately put in a garage under of cover?
