No. We (and you) have the official MB data... (acceleration and torque).
MB would have loved to make the SL63 faster on paper, to be able to ship a few more vehicles. But they had to give in to the simple truth that it's slower. And so do you...

SL55 AMG
hahaha keep looking thru those rose colored glasses. Clayton and I both drove my car at MIR dragstrip, While I bested a 12.3x Clayton who is a very good drag racer, piloted my TUNE ONLY (after Tony flashed the ECU right there on the spot at the track) '03 SL55 to a 12.03 pass and he was hitting 12.0xx passes back to back to back with my car at leat 9 or 10 times and he felt that the car had 11.9x in her...I was on on Toyo T1R street tires, 19" wheels at that.
You can talk to Tony at Eurocharged, Jay, Clayton, Ahmad etc...etc...there are many witnesses and this was in Oct '09 ...
again, we are not making this up... this is REAL .... this is not a magazine, or some article online, or some internet dragtimes or whatever...

man the SL's definately need to have a new generation come in, the current ones are starting to look dated. Even with the newer SL's 09-11, the front looks refreshed and up to date but the body is just looking date....i cant even say anything about the 03-08....they look dated as hell especially with those headlights ugh

When the facelifted SL came out in 2009, at first I honestly did not like it.
The first time I saw one in person, I changed my mind. The 2009+ SL does look great, but I have no desire to "upgrade" to the newer front clip. If I ever get into an accident and I need to replace the hood/grill/fenders/etc, I may have at it, but otherwise, I'm not doing it.
I get tons of attention everywhere I go. I think the 03-08 look more elegant.

The 63 just doesn't have the numbers to beat the 55. it has less wheel hp and torque and roughly the same weight so technically it can't beat it stock for stock. I don't care how impressive the gearbox is the 55s torque is inescapable. Sorry bro but that's the truth, but hey at least Weistec have made blowers for the 63s but because the 55 has been here longer it has a bigger and cheaper market for bolt ons, tunes and other mods. At the end of the day though both are heavy pigs so .2-.5 seconds is nothing, as long as the weight is nearly 2 tons these cars aren't dragsters

What you guys fail to realize is I owned a SL55 for 5 years, and loved every
year. It certainly was a GT car , smooth and comfortable but with a crap
gearbox. You say the gearbox doesn't make any difference, but F1 cars
can squeeze more than a few seconds a lap with a properly set up a MCT box. My 63 IS faster than my 55 and far more fun to drive. The old gearbox
learned how you were driving, so after a slow cruise the kick down was
useless, you had to be on the button, but then it would overide your input
from the button. No the 63 does just what you want, even if you have been
cruising slowly, and in manual it's a proper manual and obeys what you want.
With the exhaust note and gearbox you can play symphonies!
A car is a packet, so let's stop talking about minuscule differences in power
and go for grin power. I have had my 63 now for nearly 3 years, never put
a foot wrong, and have no intention of ever selling it, unless something very
special comes along.

or have done any factual racing against your old car, or taking it to a track?
just an FYI, you do know most of us 55k members took the 80mm tb from the SL55 2007 yes? and it was rated at 530hp? and with out a shadow of a doubt is faster then an SL63?

Maybe not a good comparison, but I have watched the stock E55s murder the E63s(a few tenths) out at the track. I might add, the 55s struggle with the launch way more than the 63s. That makes me think the 55s would be even faster if they had the same 60 ft times as the 63s.
