SL63 vs BMW
To cut the story short, the other night I picked up an M3 at a traffic circle,
I pushed the pedal to the metal and surprisingly left him behind, then a car got in my way which gave him time to catch me, after the car in front moved I pressed the loud pedal once again. Once again I gradually pulled at least
10 car lengths by the time I got to the next traffic circle, after this was my slip road and as he went passed I noticed it was a 335i not an M3. How much quicker is an M3 over a 335i?

modo: that is a stupid comment. stock for stock, it will be a very close race against an M6, M5, X5M, X6M and 135i Dinan. If in the wet, an SL63 will lose to X5M and X6M.
As previously stated, a standard 335i is 300hp and is no match. If tuned by Dinan, I believe it can go up to 400ish hp so it will run with you and be a driver's race.

My God !![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Have you seen the drag times for a 335i, the slowest stock car still manages
high 11's. That's one quick car, I feel much better now.

Car Whore
X5M and X6M using launch control will kill any car listed here from a dig, wet or dry.
I raced an X6M in my modded GTR and he pulled verrrry hard from a dig, I thought I was gonna lose almost lol.

Where did you see the slowest stock 335i on drag times doing 11? http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-335i-Timeslip-20083.html I see it doing 13.893. ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

it will bring up a huge list of cars, select BMW then select 335i and it comes up with quite a few, all under 12 secs, so sounds fishy to me!

2007 SL55 AMG
Former 2007 BMW 335i Coupe owner here. They are rated at 300/300, but I honestly think those are conservative. Dynos have shown that the loss at the wheel wasn't as low as it should be meaning the car is probably closer to 330/330. BMW could have tuned it more, but that would threaten the M3. An M3 has 414/295 as I researched and test drove one of those before I picked up my 2007 SL55.
I can tell you that the 335i stock isn't a threat even with it's much lower weight. Now the M3 would in a short 1/4 drag race, but as you start going past that, the 500+ hp of the SL AMGs would annihilate them.
Now on a course, we'd get torn up because of the weight and handling advantage of the BMWs. But honestly, we're more likely to gun our cars in a straight line on the highway than take twist and turns in the city. The main reason why I went with the SL55. That and ours are absolutely GORGEOUS!
Proud to be a fellow Merc owner - let them have their BMWs.

I think you are selling your SL55 short.
I would put a gazillion dollars on a properly driven and healthy IC pump'ed Sl55 over an M3 ANY DAY!
Here is my SL55 100% completely stock down to the paper filters doing a 12 flat @ 116mph.

No M3 would EVER touch that number stock. It would be a slaughter. Our torque gets us off the line MUCH faster than any M3.

I am mistaken! Mind you I've had my SL55 for barely 3 weeks... still trying to get the BMW snobbiness out of me!
I need to put my car down at the drag strip and see what I can run.
More to come then

You have to understand that this guy is very selective in what he sees...anything that makes his car look better his brain registers. So obviously he glosses over the fact that any 335i running 11s has a minimum of an ECU tune requiring 100 octane race gas...or tune, exhaust, intake and other aftermarket goodies. You see...all that matters is that the SL63's conquest is magnificient... ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
